U IS FOR UNDER

For each letter of the A to Z, I'm going to give you a KEYWORD. You post in the comments a song with that word in the title. I will give you one to start (along with a video). If you like, you can go to YouTube and embed your video in the comments, so that readers can also listen to your song. No repeats and only post one song so that everyone can participate. If you're just brimming with songs, come back in a few days and lay it on me! If you want to see who else is participating in the A to Z click here.

You guys did great with the last keyword: Time. Here are the songs you thought of with Time in the title:

Michele: No Time by The Guess Who and Time In A Bottle by Jim Croce
and Time of the Seasons by The Zombies
Mary: Times Like These by Foo Fighters and Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper
and Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? by Chicago
Stephen T. McCarthy: Once Upon A Time In The West by Enrico Morricone and Dire Straits
Jeffrey: Falling For The First Time by Barenaked Ladies
Marcy: Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Andrea: Too Much Time On My Hands by Styx
Debbie the Doglady:Time Has Come Today by The Chambers Brothers and Time by Pink Floyd
Alex: Time Stands Still by Rush
Sarah: It's Time by Imagine Dragons
Ericka: Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day
Arlee: Time by Alan Parsons Project and Time Is by It's A Beautiful Day
and It's About Time by H.P. Lovecraft
Pinku-Sensei: One More Time by Daft Punk
ABFTS: Time To Wander by Gypsy and the Cat and Business Time by Flight of the Conchord
D.G. Hudson: Time On My Side by The Rolling Stones
Rosey: Good Times, Bad Times by Led Zeppelin
Larry: Fall For It Every Time by John Eddie
CW: No Time by The Move
Robyn: A Time For Us from Romeo and Juliet
Robin (yes, me again): Haven't Got Time for the Pain by Carly Simon
and (I've Had) The Time of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes
If you can think of more songs from previous letters and WANT to post them now, feel free to go back and add them:)

It's a new day and a new letter!

What is the KEYWORD?

You can use variations. In this case, so long as your base word is under, you can be as creative as you like.

I present to you....Undermine by Hayden Panetierre featuring Charles Esten.

You can comment with a song or use the link in the search bar to embed the video. Thanks for playing along!

Special thanks to Arlee Bird and the A to Z team who make this possible!

    1. In that Rolling Stones video (live footage) everyone looks strung out to me. Mick always looks stoned (or on some other drug of choice), but the band looked spacey. One of the girls in the audience looked like she might drop right there on camera. In point of fact, most of the audience looked like they were under the influence of something.

  4. Well, if you've ever heard a Dream Theater song, it was likely this one - Pull Me Under. (They don't perform it in concert though.)

    2. I've listened to this once. I'll try to listen to it again before we move on to "V."

Do you like it so much because it's in California? Or am I missing something here?

    3. There was an L.A. influence that ran through a number of Zevon's zongs, because that's where he lived.

But I can really relate to the song on more levels than just the Southern California angle - although I do know some of the places he references in the song, and that's cool.

But lyrically, the song is brilliant.
One example: Think of the "Doomed Loser" mind-set of a guy who believes that if an earthquake dumped California into the sea, the motel he's staying in would remain standing until he paid his bill! Everything's out to get him personally.

That's hilarious, but also very insightful when it comes to the singer's outlook.

It's a great song, IMO, for several reasons.

    4. There have been times when I've felt like the world was deliberately setting out to make my life miserable. (Maybe we've all felt that?) I did catch that line on the first listen. My migraine is acting up, so I'm going to lie down and come back to this later. I'll probably be better equipped without rat-a-tat-tat playing a painful beat in my head.

  16. I was hoping you'd use "Under" for your word today, and I have just the song for the word--"Under the Milky Way" by The Church. Just to mix things up, I'm posting the cover by Kill Hannah.

There are also covers by Sia and The Killers. Sia's was great. I gave up on The Killers' version after a few seconds.

    1. I'm using Internet Explorer, so the YouTube links don't autoembed in my browser. That's how I missed Debbie D.'s posting of The Church's video of their original of this song. In addition, she didn't list the title or artist, so searching the page for "Milky" or "Church" didn't bring it up. I had to copy and paste her link into another tab to find out the song. Good thing 1.) it was her second song and 2.) I posted a version by another artist!
