There are occasions when I have a really difficult time holding it all together. Right now I'm in one of them. My WiP has suffered by neglect more than you can know. I'm aware that it's turned into a real problem and am now actively making time to read. That can help me to become unstuck. Sometimes, just reading someone else's story gets me excited about my own (again), and I desperately need that. PLUS, last night at 2:30 or so I was awakened by a stomach virus. The pits. At about 6:30 that pain began to recede only to be replaced by a pick in the eye migraine that makes me think fondly of axes. Don't ask. I know we all have challenges in this writing journey. What is yours right now???
For each letter of the A to Z, I'm going to give you a KEYWORD. You post in the comments a song with that word in the title. I will give you one to start (along with a video). If you like, you can go to YouTube and embed your video in the comments, so that readers can also listen to your song. No repeats and only post one song so that everyone can participate. If you're just brimming with songs, come back in a few days and lay it on me! If you want to see who else is participating in the A to Z click here.
You guys did great with yesterday's word: Dream. Here are the songs you thought of with Dream in the title:
Andrea: Sweet Dreams by The Eurythmics (did you see the YouTube video I posted for you???)
Stephen T. McCarthy: These Dreams of You by Van Morrison
Marcy: Dream On by Aerosmith and Someone's Rocking My Dreamboat by Murray Head
Alex J. Cavanaugh: Dreamline by Rush
Sarah Foster: You Make My Dreams Come True by Hall and Oates
Rosey: I Can Dream About You by Dan Hartman
Holli and Susan: Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day
Mary Burris: Dreams by Fleetwood Mac
ABFTS: Dreams to Remember by Milli Vanilli
Robyn and CW: All You Have To Do Is Dream by The Everly Brothers
Dixie: Dream Lover by Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin
Jeffrey: Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House
Debbie the Doglady: Gemini Dream by The Moody Blues
Cathy Kennedy: Dream a Little Dream of Me by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong
Honorable Mention for trying:
Rebecca: Burning House by Cam (which contained the word dream in the first lyric)
If you posted a Dream song and don't see it here, it came in after I called it a night. If you can think of more songs from previous letters and WANT to post them now, feel free to go back and add them:)
It's a new day and a new letter!
What is the KEYWORD?
You can use variations. In this case, eye, eyed, and eyeing are also acceptable. I suppose if you can think of a song with eyeball in it, that's also good. You get the idea...
I present to you... Her Eyes by Pat Monahan.
You can comment with the song title and singers OR embed the video by using the code in the search bar. Thanks for playing along!
Special thanks to Arlee Bird and the A to Z team who make this possible!
Oh! One of my favorite songs has the word Eye in the title: These Eyes by The Guess Who. LOVE THIS SONG!

This is such an excellent theme Robin. So much fun for your readers!
Michele at Angels Bark
I really like this song, too, Michele. Good choice!!!
DeleteBeat me to it! Must get here earlier, from now on. ☺
DeleteLove song!!!!
DeleteGood enough for me right there.... nothing beats the Guess Who.
DeleteSorry you were sick this morning! Yuck.
ReplyDeleteMaybe even reading what you've written will get you excited about your story again?
And another Rush song - The Camera Eye!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc1YPRbkWQA
This actually occurred after I went to bed Monday night, followed me all through Tuesday, and is mildly better today. Sometimes it goes like this...
DeleteYou know I'm going to find a word that will force you to choose something other than a Rush song. Maybe...
Oh. My. Gosh. That video you posted was HILARIOUS!!!! I am so sorry to read that you are ill! (And not most illin' in a good way). Maybe a little Bette Davis Eyes for you? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPOIS5taqA8
ReplyDeleteI remember trying to record this one off the radio back in the day. Those DJs didn't make it easy. And, if I got a good start on it someone in my house would talk or slam a door. Seriously, people, I'm WORKING here.
DeleteAnother oldie but a goodie...
ReplyDelete'EBONY EYES' by Bob Welch
(No, not Bob Welch the baseball player who drank all them "little Millers".)

'Loyal American Underground'
Another new-to-me song. I really liked it. Thanks!
DeleteYou know I thought you'd go with Van again. I was preparing for Brown Eyed Girl. I guess I should've known you wouldn't go the easy way. I mean, why start now???
When You Close Your Eyes by Night Ranger
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqUka3m4K80
Oh Night Ranger. Fond memories there.
DeleteBlue eyes crying in the rain- Willie Nelson. I love this!
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA644rSZX1A
I've never seen this video. It looks like it's from a movie, but I don't see mention of it on the YouTube site. Know anything about it? I'd swear the blonde is Morgan Fairchild, but I don't know any of the others (aside from Willie, of course).
DeleteNothing beats Willie!
DeleteI'm going to go with sappy because I loved this song on the album - Hungry Eyes by Eric Carmen from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ssCL292DQA
You really can't go wrong with a song from Dirty Dancing. Just sayin'.
Delete"In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel.
ReplyDeletehttps://youtu.be/s9CD4_3wChM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-j379JbL-xM
DeleteWell played!
DeleteFor Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton. It's so corny, I hate it, but it's the first song that came to mind.
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for Challenge posts that I'm having fun with, Robin.
Keep a smile.
It's not a corny song. Well, maybe a bit corny. The point is that you contributed!
DeleteAwesome song! I love it.
DeleteAnd I'm not ashamed to say it.
I've got two For you today...
ReplyDeleteRobert John - "Sad Eyes"
Crystal Gayle - "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue"

#AtoZChallenge E is for Elle
Just looking at the title I didn't think I knew Sad Eyes, but then I played it...and I did.
DeleteDon't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue. Ah, that song brings back memories. When I was 10 years old my dad got real sick and we all moved in with my grandparents for a while. I slept in the same room with my grandma. She woke up to a clock radio. That song was popular at the time and it frequently came on as we were getting ready in the morning. Now, whenever I hear it, I think of her. I miss her tons!
Remember Sum 41? Of course you don't. Sum 41 doesn't even remember Sum 41.
ReplyDelete"Remember that time we were all in a terrible 90s punk band?"
"Oh yeah, we were, huh? That was awful."
"Truly terrible. Well anyway, the fries are done. Better help the next customer in line."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4dvlwEWFGk
WHY CAN'T I WAKE UP????
DeleteSo many good songs with EYES in the title. I like this one by Chuck Berry: A Brown Eyed Handsome Man
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzDGx4hUvXg
Excellent choice!
DeleteI hope your migraine has let up in the meantime. That sucks!
ReplyDeleteMichele beat me to the song I wanted to post, so how about a little Queensryche?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4duZjxusGM
I knew you'd find one.
DeleteDidn't know this song. Was afraid it would bother my migraine. Fortunately, I'm still as good as I was. Not great to start with... but no worse.
I do love seeing the eclectic nature of this group.
I'm gonna go with "Queenie Eye" by Paul McCartney. Have you seen this video?? There are SO MANY CELEBRITIES. I think it's a catchy song, too.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CfLUmVso30
Oops, mine was wrong. I put "Turn Around Bright Eyes" BUT that's not the name of the song, lol!!
ReplyDeleteHere's my re-try, this one is legit. :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfmkgQRmmeE
Another one of my favourites! Every has stolen my favourite songs today.
DeleteThis is my baby sister's theme song.
DeleteLot of great songs have already been taken. Sorry, hope I'm not too late.
ReplyDeleteHall & Oates - Private Eyes
https://youtu.be/JsntlJZ9h1U
Another song I really like to karaoke!
DeleteYou got that right. It isn't going ANYWHERE.
ReplyDeleteJust in case no one posts it, this song MUST make this list.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btPJPFnesV4
I've been too distracted for too long from my WIP. I got tangled up in editing, and marketing, and platform building and a writer's conference and now the A to Z. I really wanted to visit all the participants. There are so many I don't think I'll make it, but I'm glad I made it to yours. I hope you feel much better tomorrow!
ReplyDelete@ScarlettBraden from
Frankly Scarlett
I am so loving these posts, so much fun music to be discovered. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you recovered from the tummy bug. That's no fun at all.
I understand the WiP frustrations. Mine have been stagnating FOREVER. And yes, it definitely does help to read the works of others.
I was going to share another Slim Cessna song ("Cold Cold Eyes", one of my favs of theirs), but for the sake of diversity...
"Animal Eyes" by Palodine.
https://youtu.be/RGRz02TkJN8
Thanks Mich. Not for not sharing the Slim Cessna song, but for coming back and continuing to share. Just awesome:)
DeleteGosh...I am really behind! I would chose Chris De Burgh,"Spril in her eyes"
