What is the KEYWORD?
I present to you.... Daddy What If by Bobby Bare.
You can comment with a song or embed the video by copy/pasting the link in the search bar. Thanks for playing along!
Special thanks to Arlee Bird and the A to Z team who make this possible!
Oh, good word Robin! I immediately thought of IF by Bread. Love this song. It's from 1971. Those were the days!

Michele at Angels Bark
I really love this song. Thanks Michele.
DeleteIf You Leave by OMD

Another great song. Did you know that in the original screenplay Molly Ringwold's character ended up with Duckie? But that was rejected by the "previewing audience" so they changed it.
DeleteBeyonce - If I Were A Boy

As one of the few people on the planet who is not a fan of Beyonce, this was new to me. I actually liked the song, but I really liked the video. Thanks Mary.
DeleteI think you and I are on the same page. I'm not a fan of hers, either.
DeleteHere's another *if* song:

I would buy you a green dress. But not a real green dress, that's cruel.
But we'd still eat Kraft dinner.
DeleteOf course, we would. We'd just eat MORE.
Love this song. I used to karaoke this song regularly with a friend back in the day. Such a fun tune!!!
LOL. I love this song.
DeleteThis was a tricky one for me, but then Cher came to the rescue! If I Could Turn Back Time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AldUzWWq8iQ
ReplyDeleteOne, I like this song a lot. I've felt this way so I can relate to the message.
DeleteTwo, I don't know how I feel about that "outfit." I've always thought she really just wanted to do it naked, and that wasn't acceptable... yet. Of course, on the other hand, I'm tinged with jealousy that anyone could look that good at her age. Or any age.
So, three, I try not to think about it.
Illumination Theory by Dream Theater!

And I know there is no IF in the title. Tough word. I just went with I.
DeleteThank you for clearing that up. I really thought maybe I was unclear... hahahaha!
DeleteIf I can't have you - Bee Gees

One of my favorites, Debbie:)
DeleteGlad I finally found one! :)
DeleteRobin, I would have gone with "IF" by Bread had Michele not beat me to the punch. Good prompt, though!

All Things Vintage: Ivory Soap #AprilA2Z
This one isn't the easiest I've posted. Maybe something will come to you later...
DeleteI know there are countless 50 year old mustachioed dads who combined 90s techno pop with the wizardry of jazz scat, but of all of them, I'd have to say Scatman John was definitely in my top 5.

Who can go wrong with genius lyrics like, "One shoe off and one shoe on?" You've still got it, Bryan!
DeleteIf I Didn't Care by the Ink Spots; I love this song. . .
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvwfLe6sLis
Is this from a movie, D.G.?
DeleteThe Ink Spots! My grandparents loved them!
DeleteIt could be Robin, there were many short clips like this done in the 30s and 40s, spotlighting music that the usual radio stations wouldn't play and no TV then. I used to go to a arty films place called Pacific Cinemateque to watch blues and jazz clips (15 - 20 mins) here in Vancouver. Like underground films. . .
DeleteTim Hardin - If I Were A Carpenter

Not heard this one, Dixie. Thanks for sharing.
DeleteHokey Smokes, she looks so young here, but it seems like yesterday it as popular. I guess it was a lot of yesterdays. ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNcg609M70I
ReplyDeleteYou're right. She looks really young here. It's a bit shocking.
DeleteOutside of the Bread song, I can't think of any "If" songs.
ReplyDeleteThis has turned out to be a harder letter.
DeleteIf I were a rich man brought back memories of listen to that old record when I was a kid. My parents didn't have any rock and roll but they had some other interesting stuff and I remember listen to the soundtrack of Fiddler on the Roof
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my mom's favorite musicals.

I've tried listening to her other music, but to be honest I thought it was a bit rubbish. This one, though, I tend to repeat a lot.
Never heard of this singer/band. Not my usual fare, but not bad...:)
DeleteIf Tomorrow Never Comes - Garth Brooks
