L IS FOR LOVE

For each letter of the A to Z, I'm going to give you a KEYWORD. You post in the comments a song with that word in the title. I will give you one to start (along with a video). If you like, you can go to YouTube and embed your video in the comments, so that readers can also listen to your song. No repeats and only post one song so that everyone can participate. If you're just brimming with songs, come back in a few days and lay it on me! If you want to see who else is participating in the A to Z click here.

I really thought there would be better audience participation for yesterday's word: Kiss. Not sure if it was a hard word or you guys are simply plum wore out from A to Zing. In any case, here are the songs you thought of with Kiss in the title:

Alex J. Cavanaugh: Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me by U2
Rosey (they Robyn): Kiss on my List by Hall and Oates
Holli: Kiss Them For More by Souixsie and the Banshees
Jeffrey: This Kiss by Faith Hill
Mary: Kiss You All Over by Exile
ABFTS: Kiss Me Where It Smells by Bloodhound Gang
Andrea (they Marcy): Kiss by Prince
Michele: The Last Kiss by J. Frank Wilson
Stephen T. McCarthy: The World's A Mess; It's In My Kiss by X
D.G. Hudson: Maria (Shut Up and Kiss Me) by Willie Nelson
LC: Then He Kissed Me by The Crystals
Birgit: Kiss by Marilyn Monroe
Ericka: Kiss Me Deadly by Lita Ford
Robin (yes, me again): And Then You Kissed Me II by The Cardigans (the first was the "feature")
and Kiss This by Aaron Tippin and Shut Up And Kiss Me by Mary Chapin Carpenter
If you can think of more songs from previous letters and WANT to post them now, feel free to go back and add them:)

It's a new day and a new letter!

What is the KEYWORD?

You can use variations. In this case, loves, loved, loving, lovely. Since I think there are TONS AND TONS AND TONS of these songs, I give you permission to post THREE right off the bat. Go!

I present to you....Love Letter by Bonnie Raitt.

If that didn't make your nerve ends tingle, maybe this will do the trick! I present to you Making Love Out of Nothing At All by Air Supply.

You can comment with a song or embed by copy/pasting the code in the search bar. Thanks for playing along!

Special thanks to Arlee Bird and the A to Z team who make this possible!

  1. GIRL WONDER, I "LOVE" today's keyword of "LOVE".

And how can you not love a love song by a guy insisting that he's "NOT IN LOVE"?

    I give you...

    1. Okay, I love Phil Collins (just about everything he does), so this was a groovy choice for me.

Didn't love The Carpal Tunnel of Love. That was not influenced by the video, because I heeded your warning and didn't watch it.

Taylor Swift. I like her. I know she gets a bad rap from many people, but I think she's really talented and will be around for a long time. This isn't my favorite song of hers, but I like it.

The second one is a song I loved as teenager. Since I started singing karaoke, I like it less and less. Seems like every female who can't actually sing tries to give this one a whirl. Yikes.

Not heard this Bee Gees tune before. The boys sure do look young on that album cover.

  16. Well, since you're giving me 3 I'm not going to spoil it by giving you 3 crappy 90s songs. That's just plain punishment. I'll give you a break today. You KNOW there are tons of crappy songs with Love in the title. Nsync and Backstreet Boys have about 4 each right out the gate.

    1. I can't believe you've been spamming yes, I said spamming) me with horrendous 90s song when you actually listen to enjoyable music. I would very much appreciate it if you'd continue in this vein and stop smacking me with awful 90s tunes. I revoke the challenge. You win. You've beaten me into compliance.

    2. You don't know how happy I am to hear that.

You know how YouTube likes to give you suggestions based on what you watch/listen to? Yeah, now that I've been doing half a month of terrible 90s songs my entire suggestion list is now "Do you want to hear Creed?" "Do you want to hear Smash Mouth?" I've only ended up sabotaging myself.

So I'm switching up my challenge, and now I'm making it Indie music you've never heard of that I think you might like. And maybe, just maybe I can reclaim my YouTube suggestions in the name of good taste.

I think the videos are very clever with their use of every day items to recreate the sounds. The kids get more involved in each song as they get older (which is also fun to watch). I'm not sure that this is my favorite cover of theirs, but it's the song you chose, so...
