K IS FOR KISS

For each letter of the A to Z, I'm going to give you a KEYWORD. You post in the comments a song with that word in the title. I will give you one to start (along with a video). If you like, you can go to YouTube and embed your video in the comments, so that readers can also listen to your song. No repeats and only post one song so that everyone can participate. If you're just brimming with songs, come back in a few days and lay it on me! If you want to see who else is participating in the A to Z click here.

You guys did great with yesterday's word: J-Names. Here are the songs you thought of with J-Names in the title:

Rosey (then Birgit and then Kathe W.): Hey Jude by The Beatles
Andrea: 867-5309/Jenny by Tommy Tutone
Alex J. Cavanaugh: Jacob's Ladder by Rush
Stephen T. McCarthy: What A Friend We Have In Jesus by Mahalia Jackson
and Frank and Jesse James by Warren Zevon
Jeffrey: Who's Johnny by El DeBarge and Polka Party! Here's Johnny by "Weird Al" Yankovic
Ericka: Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield and Jacob's Ladder by Huey Lewis and the News
Michele: Sweet Baby James by James Taylor
Holli: Jeremy by Pearl Jam
Debbie the Doglady: Jefferson Jericho by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
and Julia by John Lennon
Mary: Jolene by Dolly Parton and Janie's Got A Gun by Aerosmith
Birgit: a second write-in for Jolene
Mike: Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry
LC: Jack and Diane by John Mellencamp and Jamie's Cryin' by Van Halen
Susan: a second write-in for Jack and Diane
D.G. Hudson: Jumpin' Jack Flash by The Rolling Stones
Cathy: I Dream of Jeannie Theme Song
ABFTS: Jane Says by Limp Bizkit and Jimmy's Hat by Snow
and (derailing a bit) Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega
Mich: John Henry by Hillstomp
Catherine: (with a song that had a J-word... adhering close to the rules, but not quite): Whiskey In The Jar by Metallica
CW: Jane Says by Jane's Addiction
Pinku-Sensei: Angry Johnny by Poe
Robin: (yes, me again): Walkaway Joe by Trisha Yearwood featuring Don Henley
and You Don't Mess Around With Jim by Jim Croce
and So Long Jimmy by James Blunt

If you can think of more songs from previous letters and WANT to post them now, feel free to go back and add them:)

It's a new day and a new letter!

What is the KEYWORD?

You can use variations. In this case, kisses, kissed, kissing.

I present to you.... And Then You Kissed Me by The Cardigans.

You can comment with a song or embed the video by copy/pasting the code in the search bar. Thanks for playing along!

Special thanks to Arlee Bird and the A to Z team who make this possible!

  1. Well, that's just not a word used in either Rush or Dream Theater songs, so went with U2 - Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me.

  6. Awww, such a sweet, romantic word for the day.

    ...I can change that.

I believe it was The Bloodhound Gang that once wisely rapped, "You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals so let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel."

Today they bring us this classic slow jam...

    1. I've learned to brace myself before pressing PLAY on your videos (with good reason). Whoever said that past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior had you in mind. This was AWFUL. Just terrible. It was so bad that I couldn't help laughing at the guy running with a tuna like it was a football. That was a tuna, no??? I'm not an expert on fish.

  7. I don't know why I had such a hard time finding a video for this song (nor why I didn't just pick a different song!) Kiss by Prince http://videos.sapo.pt/KOvn6OC2wfpWz9aTDSAM

    1. Looks like that didn't work, guess I should have picked the one with the crazy cat video!

    2. Prince doesn't want his music on YouTube, so it's constantly being put up and then taken down due to copyright infringement (filed by him or his reps). It is REALLY HARD to find Prince songs on YouTube. If you do, you can count on ONE thing: they won't stay there.

    1. Bryan, Robin, I find the video. I click on it. This is the stupid link that shows up in the browser. What am I not doing right? What am I doing wrong? I hate stuff like this that's simple for the pea-brained and makes me feel like a f*n idiot. Love ya, though.

  10. GIRL WONDER, you were late getting this post up this morning. I prefer to be in the Top 5. Tell me, "It won't happen again, Chief!"

You may not like the tune, but I give you ONE OF THE GREATEST SONG TITLES OF ALL TIME...

THE WORLD'S A MESS; IT'S IN MY KISS by X
(That's Ray Manzarek of 'THE DOORS' on the keyboards)

    2. Now I've listened to the song. Not my favorite, and I'm surprised you like it. But, then I'm shocked all the time. However, as you say, that is a fantastic title.

    3. Actually, I don't like it. There are a few elements to it that I appreciate: That Rockabilly rhythm and Manzarek's organ washes are OK. But Exene's singing ruins everything. With a "real" singer, it could probably be a pretty good song.

I only used it here because I've always LOVED that title.

  12. Well someone beat me to the punch on Hall & Oates....but I can show some love to Darlene (who incidentally, released a new album last year).

Most people my age know her from her role in the Lethal Weapon movies, but she started under the wing of Phil Spector, who, while apparently unbalanced, was pretty good at churning out the hits.
