B IS FOR BLUE

For each letter of the A to Z, I'm going to give you a KEYWORD. You post in the comments a song with that word in the title. I will give you one to start (along with a video). If you like, you can go to YouTube and embed your video in the comments, so that readers can also listen to your song. No repeats and only post one song so that everyone can participate. If you're just brimming with songs, come back in a few days and lay it on me! If you want to see who else is participating in the A to Z click here.

You guys did great with yesterdays word: Angel. Here are the songs you thought of with Angel in the title:
Andrea: Angel Mine by Cowboy Junkies
tinbugs: Snow Angel by Over The Rhine
Alex J. Cavanaugh: Clockwork Angels by Rush
Holli: Send Me An Angel by Real Life
Michele: She Talks To Angels by The Black Crowes
ABFTS: Angel by Shaggy ft. Rayvon
Cherdo: Angel by Aerosmith
D.G. Hudson: Teen Angel by Mark Dinning
Debbie the Doglady and John Holton: Angel by Jimi Hendrix
Mich: Angel by Slim Cessna's Auto Club
Mary Burris: Pretty Little Angel Eyes by Sha Na Na
Cathy Kennedy: Angel Theme Song
Dixie: Johnny Angel by Shelley Fabares
Far Away Eyes: Angels Among Us by Alabama
Jeffrey Scott: Angel of Harlem by U2
Marcy: Angel by Rod Stewart
CW: Angels of the Silences by Counting Crows
Stephen T. McCarthy: You Angel You by Bob Dylan and Manfred Mann's Earth Band (yep, he set up a BoTB within a BoTB, and the voting is open)

If you posted an Angel song and don't see it here, it came in after I called it a night. If you can think of more Angel songs and WANT to post them now, feel free to go back a post and add them:)

It's a new day and a new letter!

What is the KEYWORD?

You can use variations. In this case, blues is also acceptable. I know said ONE song, but this one is ripe with possibilities, so I'll let you have THREE songs right out of the gate. Only embed one of them in the post, though, as it does make the page load more slowly. On Monday you can come back and add any that you've since thought of (and wished you'd chosen the first go-round).

I present to you... Tangled Up In Blue by Bob Dylan.

You can comment with a song using blue or blues or embed the video by copy/pasting the link you find in the SEARCH BAR. Thanks for playing along!

Special thanks to Arlee Bird and the A to Z team who make this possible!

    2. Have you considered using this in a BoTB? I don't know if there are other covers that would create a good battle or not. Maybe it could even go head to head with the original. It's pretty good:)

I'm loving this A2Z thang yer doin'!

OK, I'm giving ya two Blue songs. The first one is one of my very favorite songs by one of my very favorite Bluesmen...

'BIG CAR BLUES' by the great LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS

And since Alex gave you 'Blue Monday', I'm going to give you 'BLUE SUNDAY', possibly the most beautiful song that Jim Morrison and THE DOORS ever recorded...

    1. As you likely suspected, both of these were new to me. The Doors song was really lovely. Sweet and simple. Pure maybe. Tender. I liked it.

The Lightnin' Hopkins song made me laugh. It also made me think of this scene from an 80s movies that I think you'd like(???) called Adventures in Babysitting. I apologize for the lousy quality of this video, but sometimes YouTube doesn't give us exactly what we want.

    2. Ha!-Ha! That was pretty funny, ROBIN, and I can definitely see why Lightnin' reminded you of it. (Never seen that movie but have certainly heard of it many times.)

And, LOOK! That was Albert "The Iceman" Collins playing guitar and singing! Yep, I done recognized him.

      Cleverness abounds!

    2. Most days I find YouTube to be something of a blessing. I mean... what did we do before YouTube???? But, it can be frustrating when it simply does not have what you want!!!

I couldn't understand the words, but I get this is a very soulful song. I feel it. Thanks for posting!

  9. I love the song "Blue Skies" which has been sung by many famous people and there is even a film with Fred Astaire. I don't know how to imbed this so I won't but love that you picked blue since that is my favourite color

    1. Two thoughts on this song...

      1) You really should incorporate a way to insert this into the comments over at The Blue Grumpster's blog. I mean this is HIS song, no???

      2) I'm so glad you said something so I wouldn't have to, because--yes--you have fallen into a hole called "Bad 90s Songs." If you had that button they advertise on TV, someone could help you out. As it is... this could go on indefinitely...

    2. Two thoughts of my own...

      1) I could do that, but I don't want Blue to never speak to me again.

      2) You probably already know this, but for anyone watching me post these songs, these are NOT songs I like. I just wanted to post the weird/bad/offbeat songs that most people wouldn't think of.

      3) Now that's kind of turned it into a challenge, hasn't it? "Bad 90s Songs." Okay, consider that my angle from now on. I'll try my damnedest.

      4) I'm bad at counting.
