Love Is In The Air ~ I Vow To Fiercely Love You

Valentine's Day is Friday. Are you ready? Is your Romance Well full to overflowing? If not, maybe some of these clips will help get you In The Mood.

**********
I am tagging all of these Love Is In The Air (even though the hop is over) and the following is a list of all the posts with links, so that you can watch any of your favorites that you missed.

Back at the beginning of this thing I asked YOU to share what you think are the most romantic moments on the big and small screen. Thank you to everyone who has commented with your favorite romantic scenes. I have enjoyed watching them on YouTube. I no longer have time to post them in this series, but I *might* include them on the HERE'S TO YOU post;)

Speaking of comments, some of your comments crack me up! Once I ran all movies and several of you indicated you'd never seen those TV shows. Hahahaha. I realize I must be more clear about what I am posting, since I am doing both.

************

I don't know if it was where I was in my life, or the TV Show, but I cried through the first season of Everwood. Every episode. I bought it on DVD when it was on sale and then bawled like a baby every time I watched it. What does that have to do with this clip? Not a darn thing. This scene happened in season two or three and I was past the crying stage by then. This is a very sweet scene between the teens on that show, Ephram and Amy. If you think that they look familiar, but you didn't watch Everwood, they are now on OTHER TV shows. Everwood... one of the best Family Shows that has been on in the last twenty years.

Roll the footage...

I went on the hunt for these romantic scenes weeks ago, so it shocks me how I still get a kick in the gut when I watch that one. Why do work so hard to pretend to not show our feelings?  Amy summed that up spectacularly. "It should be easier." Yes, it really should.

This next scene is from a Movie that I recently watched called The Vow.  This is another movie based on a True Story. At the beginning, the couple is sitting in the car (parked) and they are rear ended by a truck. She sustains a brain injury and has no memory of her husband. As in none. The last thing she remembers is being in school and loving SOMEONE ELSE. As in someone not her husband. This scene is poignant because it shows how much they do love one another... and he spends the entirety of this movie trying to live these vows for a woman who doesn't remember him... at all. We should all be so lucky to marry someone who will go the distance like that.

Roll the footage...

I am going to finish off your Romantic Boost for today with a Movie clip that I am *pretty sure* you have seen. It really doesn't need an introduction or my two cents. Of course, that has never stopped me before, so why should today be different?  Why do I like this scene? I think when you realize that your life is truly better with someone in it, be brave enough to claim it. To say it. Isn't that what makes for a great love... a person who brings out your best?  And because they do, it feels like...

Roll the footage...

"Just shut up. You had me at hello."

  1. The Vow is devotion all right. Reminds me of that movie Fifty First Dates where every morning she forgets the day before.

  2. 'JERRY MAGUIRE' - I couldn't even make it all the way through that one. Turned it off early and sent it back to NetFux... uhm... I mean, NetFlix.

  4. Okay, my sweet meter is maxing out. Awesome scenes--but not being a girly girl, I better go find me some action or cheese before I kill over. ;) These were cute.

  5. Wow, I suck. I've never seen that show, never seen The Vow, and like McCarthy, I started Jerry Maguire and then remembered how much I hate Tom Cruise* and gave it up.

*hey, it's not my fault he's crazy

My favorite love story is Charlie Chaplin's City Lights, where a blind girl falls in love with Chaplin because she mistakes him for a millionaire. Her last line to him at the end is one of the most poignant things I've ever seen in a film. Gets me every time.

    1. Oh, yeah, 6-B, that's a great one! I wouldn't say it's my favorite love story, but it is indeed... a great one!

  6. Much like "The Notebook," I saw the "The Vow" and liked it more than I expected to. It was a very different kind of love story.

I wonder if when they made Jerry Maguire they knew how iconic that line would become.

  7. I think the NYE scene (one of my favorite rom-com scenes) in "When Harry Met Sally" does the same thing the jerry Maguire scene does, only better....I think you had that on an earlier post in this "series."

    Never heard of "Everwood" before...

  9. Alex & Shoes ~ The fact that I have seen BOTH of those movies says something, but I am not sure what, about me.

Stephen ~ I liked Tom Cruise movies a lot better before I knew who Tom actually was...

    Diane ~ Yes, me too.

Crystal ~ So, you're saying you are ready for V- Day to just be gone already. Gotcha.

A Beer for the Shower ~ Well, I am not a Tom Cruise fan, either. He is whackadoodle. I said above that I liked his movies better before he started talking to the media. Some folks really should learn that silence is the better part of valor. Heck, I am probably one of them!!!! And I haven't seen the Chaplin movie...

Briane P ~ Yes, that is precisely how I felt about it. As soon as it said "based on a true story" I knew I was In For It. That scene is pretty great, so maybe...

LC ~ Yes, I did have that When Harry Met Sally scene on much earlier in this "series." I really love Everwood. ::sigh::

Liza ~ Me too. My posts have been so EASY.

  13. "You had me at hello"... but from Tom Cruise?

I commented earlier, but not to the post...

Valentine's Day? I will probably go out and tip cows...

    1. PS: A friend of mine posted recently on his FB page about his relationship... it went something like this...

that if it were to end today, he knows that the time he has spent with her have been the happiest times of his Life...

      I thought that was amazing...

    2. Very funny about the cow tipping. But I am going to take a chance right now and call Bullshit on that. I bet some friend of yours drags you off to a bar and you get hit on by some crazy women and we read about it on your blog next week. hahahaha.

About your friend and his feelings about his SO. Yes, we should all be so lucky to have lived in such a way that we attracted the Right Person into our lives. It all would be so much easier. And better. And you'd have plans for Valentine's Day. All good things:)

  16. Jerry Maguire...the movie that tricked all of us guys to going to a chick-flick. But you know, it was still really good.

    1. Your comment tickled me. Yeah, with the football stuff in it, the whole rom-com thing was disguised. Did you get that sinking feeling in your stomach when the whole thing took a turn for the romantic???

  17. Everyone who responded to Jerry Maguire ~ What I like best about that scene is the looks on all of the faces of the women at the house for a book club meeting. They know these characters are separated and "cruising" toward divorce BUT I love watching him win them over. I think the "best" line was cut off. One of the ladies says, This was the best book club meeting ever." or something like that. It's hard to tell precisely because they are cutting off the clip. Hahahaha. Why have I never gone to a book club meeting like that????

  18. I didn't watch any of those clips this time, I've never watched Grey's Anatomy or Private Practice, so I know I wouldn't know what was going on in them. As for Jerry Maguire, I didn't need to watch that, I know it so well. I have my own copy of that movie and watch it a couple of times a year.
