HERE'S TO YOU FRIDAY

image found on www.wehearit.com

SURPRISE. Drum roll please. It is once again HERE'S TO YOU DAY. Since yesterday was a holiday, I decided to delay the post one day.  I am certain that you thought I chucked it for the week.  Nope.  I am also doing something slightly different on a couple of the offerings this week.  I hope that you like the changes.  I may or may not carry on in this tradition in future HERE'S TO YOU posts.  For new readers, this may all be gibberish.  Allow me to take a moment and give you the skinny on this event...

This is a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays.  The best (or worst) part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of footage off of youtube and connected it to you. And then I will tell you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol. Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.

Also, this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side), click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.

Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!

This one is for everyone:

This one is for Jasmine at A Yellow Rose of Texas:

  1. That's a carved watermelon, isn't it? Whoa! I am impressed. Al might even be inspired enough to do a sculpture of a tiger.

  3. HAHAHAHAHA! I need six hunnit and fiddy dollars too! Good I wasn't drinking anything or I would have spilled it all over the screen. HAHAHAHA. Too funny.

I do find similitude between the watermelon and myself. Even colors, they are sooo Mexican! I love it. Thank you very much, Robin!

  4. OMG! I just enjoyed a wonderful trip in your time machine and had a tiny blonde moment. When I saw Al's dragon, I was like 'oh wow they made that dragon look like a watermelon!' That was followed about two seconds later with 'oh wow...it's carved from a watermelon!'

I loved Serendipity and now I want to see it again. And People Are Crazy is one of my favorite songs.

  5. Alex ~ You think it looks like a tiger? I looked at it and saw a dragon face. Hmmmm. I suppose there is room for interpretation here...

LC ~ You crack me up:)

Al ~ I am always happy to provide a chuckle. So glad you like your watermelon sculpture. I thought it was SO YOU!!!!

Carol ~ Hahahaha on the blonde moment. Priceless! I know... watching the Serendipity trailer makes me want to watch it again, too! We aim to please here, Carol!

  6. Your Thursday feature is very perceptive on your part and I know you put a lot thought and work into it. The videos often seem slow for my computer to load so I don't watch a lot of them. I'll have to check out Stephen T McCarthy's site to figure the relevance of that clip. I like the song, but that Revolution show annoyed me so much I stopped watching it. And I had a lot of hopes for that show.

  7. Great job as always, Robin.

My favorites are the picture for Father Dragon, and the Serendipity clip for Manzanita. John Cusack is so darn adorable.

    Have a great weekend.

  8. ROBIN ~
I never heard of Ryan Star before, but his number sounds like Bruce Waits [a combination of Bruce Springsteen and Tom Waits] doing a Tom Petty cover.

Thanks so much for the compliment of including me in your 'HERE'S TO YOU' post!

I must admit that it took me awhile to "get" it. The truth is, I had never heard of that song, I had never heard of that singer, and I had never heard of that TV show, and I wasn't sure which of those things (or ALL of them?) related to me in some way.

So I did some Google searches and discovered that the show is a post-apocalyptic America story that includes militias. So I figured that was the primary association, what with all my yakking about the 'End-Time' scenario and our nation's current pre-Tribulation "Labor Pains".

[If I "got" it wrong, please let me know.]

Thanks again, Robin. It's a real honor to be mentioned on your blog!

  9. So, it is Saturday morning and I am sitting at this computer bawling! Oh Robin. There is so much more here than you know. But this I will share. Do you believe in synchronicity? I saw this movie with my daughter. I had to, because MY FRIEND FLICKA, the book, written by Mary O'Hara in 1941 is still one of my favorite books ever. If you haven't read it, the movie is pretty close to a total departure, although the theme is the same, I suppose. O'Hara packs in so much emotion in this book that I've read since I was a kid and etched my name in blue crayon on the inside cover. In my mind, it's more of an adult read, but seriously good for kids too. Not only that...yesterday, Friday, the same day you posted this, I reached for the book and flipped through the pages. I have a homework assignment to bring in a good example of "setting" in a novel, and I thought about using it. Funny, we were both there at the same time. Anyway, I'm wiping my eyes and heading off to view more clips now, and visit others. Thank you for thinking of me again.

This is strange. I "subscribed" to the comment section here, so I received an Email with your reply to me in it. But that reply is not showing up here in this comment section right now.

Stephen ~ I think you summed it pretty well. Imagine if somewhere down the line, "someone" decided to cut the power on the entire world. This series started last fall and I think it may be the best new one this season (it's a J.J. Abrams/Eric Kripke show). Throwing everything that you've written recently into the mix, it doesn't seem as farfetched as it once did.

That immediately made me think of an 'EMP' ATTACK. Are you familiar with that? I first learned of it in Dr. Chuck Missler's very interesting 2006 book 'PROPHECY 20/20'. In the 'Weapons Of Mass Destruction' section he writes, in part, the following:

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) is generated when a nuclear weapon is detonated above the earth's surface - at altitudes of about 25 to 250 miles. In such instances, the nuclear blast interacts with the earth's atmosphere, ionosphere, and magnetic field to produce an intense EMP. In addition to the direct effects of the blast, the EMP would dramatically impact the electrical and electronic systems across a wide geographical area. ...

...An EMP attack could cripple the US by knocking out electrical power, telecommunications, and transportation, along with the banking and financial networks. The loss of power would also limit our access to fuel and emergency services as well as food and water supplies. Systems could be down for months or even years. It has been estimated that it would be as if the United States slipped back into the nineteenth century. ...

In July 2004, the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from EMP attack, a blue-ribbon team of the top scientists of the Department of Defense, released its findings; however, this assessment was largely overshadowed at that time by the report of the 9/11 Commission and thus did not garner much attention from the mainstream media. It is, however, published on the Internet. ...

Robin, Dr. Missler goes on to mention nonnuclear EMP weapons and explains that both China and Russia are aware of and capable of launching an EMP attack against the U.S. Worse yet, is the threat from rogue states like Iran and North Korea... and what about the reported "nuclear material missing from storage sites in Russia that may have found its way into terrorist hands"?

And what if 'Wizards Behind The Curtain', in control of world finance, WANTED to knock the U.S. back into the nineteenth century in order to establish a Global Government?

Truth is often stranger than fiction.

    1. Stephen,

Yes, I can see that my comment has completely disappeared. Would you mind posting the entire thing in my comments so that I can copy/paste and try again? Unfortunately, this has been happening to me regularly for the last two weeks or so. I see it post and then it disappears. This also happens when I comment on blogs. I am beyond frustrated. Moving on...

Yes, I am familiar with an EMP and what it will do. Frankly, it has been on my list of potential threats of how this all could go down since we started talking. Agenda 21 is about sustainability and downsizing the population. If the International Bankers want to Take The Money and Run, it seems like turning out the lights on everyone (like in this show Revolution) makes perfect sense. Who is going to go looking for the money when Survival becomes the Name of the Game? I know that you don't watch much TV, but you might want to check this one out via Netflix or however you watch stuff. And then you can watch it roll out next season on NBC in Real Time. That show deals out some mean surprises. However, looking at it from this new lens (NWO), they aren't nearly so shocking. I wonder if that is what the writers have in mind???? I posted a blog about this show when it was halfway through the season. You can find that here: http://yourdailydose-robin.blogspot.com/2013/01/all-of-f-words.html

  11. ROBIN ~
Yeah, it seems you're having more comment trouble than most right now. Don't know if you saw it, but on my own blog I mentioned to you that a comment you said you'd submitted to an older blog bit I'd linked you to (about Owen Lattimore) never showed up on my Dashboard.

I am about to check out the post you gave me the URL to, but to say that I "don't watch much TV" is quite a doggone understatement. I don't watch ANY current TV programming. Old episodes on DVD of 'All In The Family', 'Frasier', and 'Everybody Loves Raymond' is as close as I get to modern TV programming.

Below is your comment as it came through to my Email InBox:

Arlee ~ I think you will understand the tie-in. If not, Stephen put his spin on it in the comments here, and I think he did fairly good job with it. Funny... I love the TV show Revolution. Of course, that could all change next season! One just never knows...

Robyn ~ I always hope that there will be something here for everyone:P

Liza ~ Yes, I believe in synchronicity. It happens on this post rather frequently. Something draws me to a video and I know it is "the one" for a person. The fact that it hits them on multiple levels while I simply have a *knowing* that it is right is what makes it perfect. If you ever want to email me THE REST OF THE STORY, I would love to hear it. I am glad I touched you in the heart. Happy Saturday:)

    1. Thank you for the copy/pasted email.

I had an inkling that you didn't watch much, if anything, currently on TV. I don't know if you would like Revolution or not. I think it is fascinating, but that is just me. If you can order a few episodes at a time from Netflix it might be worth checking out. Of course, the show doesn't get really "meaty" until you are better than halfway through the first season. I think that they have to spend some time "setting the stage" so that you will appreciate the hard balls they throw. Anyway, as I said, I find the show even more fascinating now given the information we've discussed recently.

I did go back and read you comment about not getting my comment. Unfortunately, I can no longer recall what I said on the post that was lost. I am beginning to think that I am going to have to open up Word and save every single comment on every single blog until this whole thing passes. Egads.

Sorry I missed this but as you know from latest post, I was in Bozeman. Just give me a sharp elbow in the ribs, as you did... hahaha I did love that movie and I remember that totally empty feeling when she left and he had no clue as to who she was. You are "right on" with that one. Also good picks for JJ, Liza and Jasmine, for as well as I know them. I don't know the others but I could get acquainted.
