HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY

SURPRISE. Drum roll please. It is once again HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY. Yes, you read that correctly.  HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY is back on Thursday.  For those of you unfamiliar with the once again weekly HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY posts, I bet you're wondering what is going on.   Well, peeps, let me give you the skinny on this event...

This is a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays.  The best (or worst) part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of footage off of youtube and connected it to you. And then I will tell you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol. Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.

Also, this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side), click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.

Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!

  2. "Friends" always gives me a good laugh. I laughed even more when I watched the snippet for Yvonne. That's a big fear I have. I tend to forget to screen for political views, when I'm attracted. Funny.

    Be well, Robin.

  3. Peter, Paul, and Mary had a huge impact on the folk-song era, which preceded the Modern Rock era. Lemon Tree might not be moving to a 21st century teen, but the folk group was certainly moving in its day, and a precursor to the protest music of the 1960s.

We often forget the positive impact the past has on our present (certainly not meant to imply the Peter, Paul, and Mary spawned the crap we hear today). Good post!

  4. Alex ~ Hahahaha. One of my favorite Friends moments right there:)

Robyn ~ The great thing about Amelia/James relationship is that they decided to allow one another to have their own viewpoints and accept. That might be the most challenging aspect of loving another person... loving the parts of them that disagree with you. It is okay to disagree with someone if you do it in a loving way. Great lesson in there...

JJ ~ I have always liked Peter, Paul, and Mary. Lemon Tree has been a favorite for a long time. As for your point about the past impacting the present... it is inevitable, in good and bad ways!

  5. As always, these are great picks! I truly enjoyed Ashton Kutcher's speech. I would like to think he really meant the things he said. And, of course, the Friends one :)

  6. I remember the scene...I liked the movie (it was a distant second, but my second favorite in the franchise).

A quote from one of my favorite bands says it more succinctly:

"Failure isn't about falling down, failure is staying down"
    -Marillion

Thanks for the clip! Here's to YOU!

  7. Who knew Ashton Kutcher is really a conservative down deep inside?! According to him, my husband is the definition of sexy- but I knew that!
I love that Jimmy Buffet/Martina McBride song. It's from a great CD that JB did of duets and they're all really good!
Jim Bridenstine is one of the reasons I can honestly say that republicans and democrats are NOT the same. You will NEVER see a democrat come out and say these things.
What a great one for Manzanita and her fruit trees!
My husband loves the Rocky movies. Yup, there's just so darn much good in my man and I am fortunate to spend my life with one as good as can be. :)

  8. Carol ~ The Ashton speech was surprising, no? I was pleasantly surprised!

LC ~ Glad you enjoyed the clip. That Marillion quote is actually stolen from a lady by the name of Mary Pickford. But, the sentiment is awesome!

Jasmine ~ I am so happy for you in that you are married to someone you like and respect so much. That is a blessing, my friend:)

  9. Yeah, what JJ said. I'm a big time Peter, Paul, and Mary fan. Loved their music, loved the way they acted on stage.

    Good choices again! Thanks.

  10. I'd read about that Ashton Kutcher speech, but hadn't heard it. That's a good one, at least he was trying to make a positive impact. The crowd was wild over him!

  12. Hi Robin,

Here's to you, Saturday. Time zones and not being able to get a clone has meant I've only just arrived. Humble apologies.

Nothing like that sweet song that leaves a sour taste. Peter, Paul and Mary. I have no idea why, but suddenly I'm thinking about a magic dragon named, "Puff."

  13. Thank you Robin, that is a beautiful song, I have lots of souvenirs and definitely revelations over the years.
I've never considered my years in terms of trips round the sun.. makes it sound even more adventurous..lol.
    Love it

  15. Susan ~ You must be a big Buffy/Angel fan, but I hope you got the relevance...

mail4rosey ~ Yeah, those girls screaming in the background while he was trying to say something Important was annoying. hahaha.

Tara ~ This is fun for me, too!

klahanie ~ Makes you wonder how Alex does it, no? PP&M are great.

Helen ~ Yes, instead of just "one more year" it is now "a grand adventure." It's a much better perspective to have on birthdays:)

Yvonne ~ As always, you are welcome!

  16. I'm confused. I left a comment here last week thanking you for dedicating that video to me and now my comment isn't here and your latest comment on my blog said you thought I must not have seen it. Blogger is slowly erasing me from the internet!

  17. Robin, that was incredible!!! So glad you told me to come back to this one. You hit it right on the head...men and women have such different perspectives on things.

I'm telling you - a love scene from a male perspective would be pretty much like that.

  18. Steve ~ I checked my spam folder and it was clean. Your comment was genuinely eaten. Drat blogger.

Jay ~ Yeah, that was the impression I got from your post. It immediately made me think of this scene. Glad you enjoyed it!
