HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY

There are some weeks that I think The Thursday Post just isn't going to happen. In fact, yesterday I checked out the contents of my Favorites to see what struck me between last Thursday and today - and it was sub-par. So, that thought niggled on my brain as I drove to the doctor and dance class. Several of your blogs came back to mind and *voila* I knew what went with them. Just so you know, it doesn't usually work that well.

If you don't know what this HERE'S TO YOU stuff is about, let me explain.  This used to be a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays.  When I read your blogs or you say something in the comments that sparks my imagination (or I hear something and I think of you), chances are good I will click over to YouTube to find footage for you. In the old days you wouldn't have to reach back in your memory bank farther than one week. Now... all bets are off. It could be several weeks ago.

The best (or worst) part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of footage off of YouTube and connected it to you. And then I will tell you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol. Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.

Also, this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side), click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.

Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!

  1. I like Elaine's warped logic in the Seinfeld clip! Wrong but funny.

  2. I have used that same logic Elaine is using...I agree with her 100%!

  3. GIRL WONDER ~
Many times I have heard about that show 'MY NAME IS EARLL' but I never saw a single episode. (You know me and my hate/hate relationship with television.) But that promo clip was REALLY funny. And it hit pretty close to home, too.

You have no idea how many times I've wanted to kick a lawn flamingo. In fact, where I work there is one residence that has a couple of them in the front yard. ...Hmmm... as Neil Young sang, I think "Tonight's the night".

And I liked that part about how he was going to quit making fun of people. That IMMEDIATELY reminded me of something I posted on one of my blog bits years ago (I'm sure it was long before you even knew I existed). It was pretty funny (to my Brother and me, anyway). I'm going to have to locate that blog bit and send a link of it to you. I think you might get a kick out of it, particularly if you bear in mind this clip here where Earll just can't seem to keep himself from making fun o' folks.

Incidentally, I started a reply to your last E last night but I got all tuckered out before I could send it. But be watching 'cause you'll get it sooner than later.

Thanks again for the 'Earll' clip - a laugh is a good way to start the day!

  4. Alex, L.G., and L.C. ~ This just proves that EVERYONE loves a Seinfeld clip.

StMc ~ My brother started me on this show LONG after it was cancelled. When I went up to visit with my dad in the last few months of his life he was living with my brother and sister-in-law. I think my brother knew I needed a laugh and dug out the first season of this show. OMG. It is so funny. Not only that I appreciated the varied approaches that Earl used to try and make all of the things on his list "right." So many great characters on that show. The main cast... freakin' hilarious. I think I liked Joy best, but it really was a toss up.

So, when you said that you really only liked comedies on TV I should have thought of this IMMEDIATELY but I didn't. It wasn't until you mentioned Karma that it all came together for me.

      Dang, that woman is DANGEROUS!
And so is the entire bar!

OK, I found the old blog bit I alluded to above, and it was from 2008, so we definitely didn’t know each other yet. It’s really a very long blog bit so you might not want to read the whole thing but... I think there IS some funny stuffs in it. (You’ll recognize the “do not make fun of people” part when you see it.)

      NOTES FROM AN UNNOTEWORTHY VACATION

I hope it doesn’t bore you. Brother Nappy and I enjoyed that trip quite a bit.

  7. This mix feels comforting, somehow. With Seinfeld, you can't go wrong. The song for Liza is perfectly meaningful, and I was very impressed by the dancers in the first video. You are a thoughtful lady.

  8. Elizabeth ~ Married! Wow! Thanks for sharing:)

Sherry ~ It is one of my faves too!

Susan ~ I think that is just his voice... but I know what you mean.

Robyn ~ It is an interesting bunch of stuff, isn't it???? Even I was appalled/impressed with the variety.

  9. I don't think I've ever thought that one of your "here's to you" posts was subpar. They're all cool and I think everyone appreciates them.

  10. Another win for Seinfeld! The song for Liza was incredibly meaningful. Robyn is right about you!

  11. Oh, Robin. I didn't cry when I wrote the poem, but I did listening to the song. Thank you, dearie. Loved, loved, loved, the dance...and Elaine, well, she the one you kind of love to hate! Too funny. Hope you have a great weekend!

  12. I know exactly what you mean about things taking longer. My blogging's taking more of a hit now between writing, editing and my life in general.

    LOVE Linkin Park. ;-)

  13. Since you posted a great Seinfeld clip, I can look past the posting of Nickelback. "How did our eyes get so red? And what the hell is on Joey's head?" Ah, the lyrical genius that is Chad Kroeger. What WAS on Joey's head? Mayhaps we mere mortals will never know.

  14. Hi Robin,

When I finally move, I promise to get a new computer. That way, your videos might actually load. Of course, I know that when your post actually loads that the videos are always very poignant.

Wishing you a lovely weekend, Robin.

  15. Steve ~ Well, thanks!

Julie ~ When is she wrong?

Liza ~ Oh, I am so glad that I hit you in your heart. It was where I was aiming. Now you know what you poem sounds like!

Misha ~ I can't say that I am keeping up well.

ABFTS ~ Ah, that is a relief.

Gary ~ I hope your weekend is awesome, too!

  16. those were some primo choices! loved my name is earl! i miss it!

so, did you get some advice on that last post? i use feedly sometimes, but mostly i'm just trying to catch up with comments, especially lately with the blog tour! (like now! thanks for stopping by and commenting!) feedly is pretty easy - you log in with google and it imports your blogs and you can add or categorize or whatever! i don't remember having to do much else with it... hope you find what you need!

  17. That Phoenix Couple was fun to watch. I was smiling all the way through that video. That guy had a lot of great dance personality. :)

  18. Robin, what a fun and creative way to highlight other blogs. I look forward to checking out each of the blogs you've linked to.

Your choice of "I Go Back" is perfect for me. Not only does it jive with my blog purpose, but I love Kenny Chesney and that song. How cool is that!

Thanks so much for the "here's to you" sound out. I really appreciate it.

  19. Robin: I have to start e-mailing you my posts before I publish them. I wish I had that clip before posting my last one!

  20. Thank You, Robin, That was Beautifully Awesome!!!!

  21. Tara ~ I did get some great advice. I have not used it yet. I really need to see if Michael's idea will work so that I can delete blogs that aren't posting, etc. And my reader is working fine again, so I guess I will postpone feedly... for now.

    rosey ~ Yes!

Patti ~ I love it when it all comes together:)

JJ ~ Where would be the fun in that? I would have NO HERE'S TO YOU footage for you if we did that!

Cathrina ~ I am so glad you liked it!

  22. Hi robin...I liked it...if there is one thing I am cognizant of...it's the forward momentum of time...time to stop wasting time. right.

  23. Of course you would be keyed in to what I was going through right before the big move. We had going away get togethers 6 nights in a row with different groups. I guess when you've lived in one place all your life it takes quite a bit to say goodbye. The funny thing was that I wasn't sad about it at all, unless somebody else would get sad. Then I would feel bad because I felt bad for them, not for me. Love that you were thinking of me even while I was away from blogging. Thanks!
