It Could Be Today

You want to know the truth? I am tired of political posts on Facebook. Heck, I am tired of political posts everywhere. I think most people have their minds made up and anything you say isn't going to change it. All you are going to do is make someone angry.  And yet, I cannot stop posting because this is THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF MY LIFETIME.

And then I think about that Eminem quote about people being mad at you. His response is, "Well good. At least at means you stood for something." You didn't sit in a corner too afraid to say anything because you might hurt someone's feelings. You didn't live to be so politically correct that you didn't want to offend your whole life. And I think, "Yeah, that is what I think makes him so damn hot." I don't agree with his every thought. Action. Definitely not every action. In fact, I don't think he does either. But he OWNS everything. I gotta respect that. And I don't think he cries in his milk when someone unfriends him on Facebook. Or if he had a blog I don't think he would lose sleep if he lost a follower. Oh well.

Real friends stick even if they disagree with every single word you say. They respect the crap out of you for saying it. It's like the song Drops of Jupiter. They might think you're wrong, but they have your back. And they are just glad you have the backbone to stand up. Because everyone someday is going to have to stand up. Maybe sooner than you think.

I am not going to ramble on much longer because I have an excerpt for you from someone who explains this much better than I can. But, this is just the tip of the iceberg as to why I feel our current President does not have OUR best interests at heart. Please understand that I don't think ANY OTHER PRESIDENT could get away with what he is doing. He has our social media wrapped up and reporting the news just the way he wants it. We are being fed the news he wants us to hear. And anytime any other version comes out, those people are portrayed as crazy or extremists or something else anti- or ugly.

This is from Michelle Malkin's book Culture of Corruption. She is clearly not racist (she is a minority) or anti-women (she is a woman). However, she is one of the few people courageous enough to speak up and call a spade a spade. Watch her on YouTube. She is impressive as all get-out.  This is from her book:

"But the most glaring example of the Obama culture of corruption, and the clearest evidence that Hope and Change is hazardous to your personal well-being and welfare, can be found in the $60 billion White House payoff to Big Labor in exchange for its support for Obama's health care takeover plan. In mid-January 2010, the White House convened backdoor meetings with Democratic leaders, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, Service Employees International Union President Andy Stern, and United Auto Workers President Ron Gettelfinger. Outside the view of C-SPAN cameras, which Obama had so ostentatiously, repeatedly, and falsely promised to install at every health care policy negotiation, the special interest groups cut a deal to exempt union members from a massive 40 percent excise tax on high-priced health insurance premiums.

The excise tax kicks in for everyone else in 2013. While the law squeezes middle-class taxpayers, employers, investors, and drug-makers to subsidize expanded government health care, the Big Labor Cadillac tax exemption gives union members who belong to any health plan that is part of a collective-bargaining agreement immunity until 2018. State and local government employees who belong to unions will also be spared. As the Wall Street Journal editorial board put it succinctly: "The 87% of Americans who don't belong to a union will now foot the bill for a $60 billion giveaway to those who do."

And you can bet those union lobbyists will spend the next eight years lobbying to ensure that the "temporary" exemption never ends. ... Connecting this raw deal to the parallel dirty deals hammered out on Capitol Hill to force the Obamacare package through, National Review editor and syndicated columnist Rich Lowry put the payoff in perfect perspective: "This Labor loophole stands in the finest tradition of the Louisiana Purchase and the Cornhusker Kickback. With no possible public-policy justification, it puts the awesome power to tax and spend at the service of nakedly political ends. Oliver Wendell Holmes famously said that taxes are the price of civilization. In this case, taxes are the price of not belonging to a group that pours countless millions of dollars into the Democratic coffers."

This is just ONE reason that I cannot vote for this man. Michelle Malkin has written an entire book citing enough things that this man has done to make a person physically ill. There isn't a single promise that hasn't been broken. That is made all the more crushing since he came riding in on the white horse. I think the people expected more. I mean, we all know politicians lie. But this guy was Hope and Change. Not more of the same... and even worse.

If you are tired of being force fed what the media is cramming down your throat, read Michelle Malkin's book. Open your mind to what is actually going on. This is the most important vote you will ever cast. Romney will repeal Obamacare, and that is moving Forward. The 87% don't know it yet, but they will thank you later.

I thank you for listening.  And I know that you will post your comments with grace and respect.  Because that is just who you are.

  1. I agree with you 100%. I try to keep politics to a minimum but we all need to at least be aware of what's going on and have civil dialogue and make our decisions based on facts and the truth and that will not come through the lapdog media that has circled the wagons around Obama. The union people are just useful idiots. Do they think when the government runs everything and all people either work for the government or are dependent on the government there will be unions? I think not. Unions are just helping the liberals collapse the economy so they can take over the private sector. The dollar has lost 30% of its value and they continue to print money. He has time to appear on David Letterman and The View. He has time to hang out with Beyonce and JayZ while our embassies are on fire and our ambassador to Egypt and three others are killed. He even hides behind the cause being that video and it wasn't that at all. He has taken a stance of appeasement and apology rather than strength and has invited challenge. He is a very poor leader. I remember when he first got elected he said the Republicans drove us into the ditch now they can't have the keys. They can come along for the ride but have to sit in the back seat and can't say anything. That's leadership? That encourages cooperation? He is an arrogant narcissist who thinks his warmth and smile will make people like us. The last two years of the Bush administration there was a Democratic congress and at the beginning of Obama's administration he had it all, got what he wanted passed, and has made a royal mess of things. He always has someone to blame. Has this country ever been more divided? Four more years of him will be a disaster.

    1. I am not for everything on Romney's platform, but a very smart friend of mine told me that you have to focus on the things you think most important and accept the rest. I think she is right. Unfortunately, Obama lied about everything on his 2008 platform, as Malkin details point by point in her book, and his actions are speaking very clearly about his LEADERSHIP now. As you said, the media is trying very hard to whitewash what he does.

You are right about one thing. This country has never been more divided. And, for me, it isn't about Democrats vs Republicans. It is one Democrat. One person who is lying, cheating, making backroom deals, and slowly trying to bring this country to its knees. I have voted Democrat before, and if this country doesn't go into Revolution before this is all over, I may vote Democrat again. But never for this man. Obviously.

    2. I have to disagree with the one Democrat statement. Don't forget Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. The Democrats I see interviewed are talking heads for the rhetoric of the Democrat party. Take care out there today.

    3. Right now everyone is being bullied by the President. If you don't do it his way you will be "destroyed" and have no political future or any future. He is using backroom Chicago politics to bully everyone to do it his way. I freakin' hate a bully. There are other bullies like Nancy Pelosi all too happy to step up to the plate. He has garnered other lobbyist bullies and given then seats of power to help distribute the punishment. But not every Democrat who is voting with the President is actually WITH the President. Some are just scared not to go along. That is no way to run a country! Not every Democrat is a BAD Democrat; some are just sitting and waiting and quietly hoping for a change. They are tired of being bullied by the President.

  2. I agree with both of you. I saw an interesting comment somewhere earlier... This is a quote from a newspaper in th Czech Republic. " America can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their president."

I do believe that we get to vote for those whom we feel can improve our country and move it forward. I fear that four more years of him and this administration will take us to a place from which we won't be able to return.

    1. I think you are absolutely right. I am not sure that we can survive another four years. For a while it was giving me terrible nightmares, and then I just decided that what would be would be. Sometimes you have to lose your freedom in order to understand that you had it at all. I never thought I would live to see a time when there would be guns in my streets. Now, I am almost certain I will. I just want to go down in a blaze of glory. I am a leaf on the wind.

    2. Perhaps I should have phrased that better... war at my doorstep as opposed to guns in the streets.

  4. My BFF and I have stated repeatedly that we are there for each other precisely because each of us will tell the other the truth. We can agree to disagree, we are not "yes" women. And it's always done with love and respect. Too bad most people can't follow those same rules when it comes to politics ....

    1. That is a very special relationship, Mary. I think that respect is the key. The truth is that as human beings we are never going to agree on everything. So, learning to agree to disagree is really fundamental to getting along peacefully.

  5. Clap, clap, clap!!! I love a brave soul. And you, my dear, are just that- in so many ways!
All of this energy and 'coming out of the political closet'... I feel it all around me and I don't think it's just my imagination.
If not this time, then soon- we will be back to our American roots. This kind of stuff just cannot happen. This is America. We are never giving up!
BTW, love me some Michelle Malkin and all the other wonderfully varied conservative women out there. We exist and we will not be silenced!

    1. On JJ's history lesson post (a few posts back) it gave the details of the events surrounding the American Revolution. Britain was in debt (sound familiar?) and decided that the solution was to raise taxes here. Well, that didn't go over so well. (As in really not so well.) It all came to a head at a little event now named The Boston Tea Party. It was America's way of letting Britain know that we were not going to pay their increased taxes. (They could basically take their tea and shove it.) Well, that didn't go over so well in Britain. Interestingly enough, many didn't actually want to separate from Britain. They considered themselves Loyalists. They simply wanted Britain to back down and drop the tax thing. However, that wasn't going to happen. And it erupted into something much bigger. Revolution. A document declaring our Independence from Britain. The people who signed that document were doing two things 1) establishing the most fair government that they could - a democratic republic - that protected the rights of everyone. It was very important, since they already knew what a lack of freedom felt like, and 2) they were signing their death warrant if they didn't succeed. It was a powerful document. They were brave men.

You see, it is no coincidence that Washington started receiving tea bags by the load. It was a STRONG MESSAGE about taxation. It was a historical reference to The Boston Tea Party. However, the press called all those "nuts" tea baggers. Those same "nuts" would be everyone who signed The Declaration of Independence, for the record. The press giving them a silly name doesn't make their cause less worthy.

And the more Washington ignores those people who are fed up with taxation, the worse it gets. The same way it got worse when Britain ignored America about taxation. How did that story end? Oh yeah. Revolution. I really hope that Barack Obama gets fired this November so that it doesn't come to that.

Or this country might look a lot like JJ Abrams' TV show, Revolution, on NBC. But with the electricity. I hope.

As far as what you said... Jasmine, the people will wake up. The only question is when. I have come to realize that sometimes people have to lose all of their freedoms in order to fight for them. In other words, people seem to need to learn things the hard way. And some people won't see Obama until the mask fully comes off (if he wins again, it will come off) and then they will know. And when he starts making deals with Russia and trading away our safety. And making deals with the Middle East and trading away our safety, and that of Israel, and he taxes everyone to the breaking point. Hands out favors to his friends, breaks all of his promises, wipes that smile off his face, dishonors our flag and everything it stands for completely, revolution will ensue. When he takes away our basic freedoms even the most rabid Obama supporter will know they were sold a false bill of goods. I don't know how much good it will do. I suspect he will put all of our troops in foreign countries so that they can't help us here at home. Quarantine them that are here. Use the police against us. Ration us. Everything you can imagine and more. It's a good thing we have the Middle East to protect us. And he will have brokered a deal with Russia. They have all been fine allies in the past.

  6. We are losing the country I grew to love so much. America is an idea, not a benevolent kingdom that generously feeds its dependents. America protects and provides for those who cannot fend for themselves, but it does not foster dependency. We went from "Don't tread on me" to a large snake eating its own tail in a few short years.

  7. Great post, and until the election is over my TV is only on for my favorite shows, and at 10 after the hour to catch the local weather, because I cannot stand the news lately. The rest of the time my radio is on. :/ Lately I have been getting robo calls from the Presidents campaigners that are irritating me, so I have to screen the calls. Definitely a great posting, enjoyed reading!
