HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY

It's Thursday and everyone knows what that means. You don't? Well, look out...

However, before we get down to BUSINESS, I want to remind everyone that tomorrow is the last day you can vote in Battle of the Bands. You can CLICK HERE to listen and vote. Yesterday I wrote a piece on revelations about my migraines and my rough draft. You can click back one post for that one.

Without further ado, drum roll please.

It is Thursday and that means it is HERE'S TO YOU day!  All in all, the best day of the week here on YOUR DAILY DOSE. Why? Because it's a celebration for YOU.

If you don't know what this HERE'S TO YOU stuff is about, let me explain.  This is a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays.  The best (or worst) part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of footage off of youtube and connected it to you. And then I will tell you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol. Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.

Also, this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side), click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.

Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!

  1. I have to look up the translator for the first one. I'm so curious.

As for the mail4rosey one, lol. I hate ice. And cold. And snow too. And yet I found myself laughing at the video. :) OMG to the tow truck!!!

  2. I want a speed bump that can do that!! Awesome. One I can drop behind me as I drive.

  3. I have tried and tried to break up with winter. He keeps stalking me. I've had it! If I see him one more time, I'm calling the cops.

  4. It's been so long since I've seen Beaches. You've made me want to watch it again. That's a great scene. Breakaway carries a lot of meaning for me too - love that song and Kelly Clarkson.

    Have a great day, Robin.

  5. Winter. Is it...as they say...what it is. It will end, we will move on, and then, another will stalk us. Just keep walking, I say. I loved the Holiday clip. Love that movie. However do you find the ones for the beginning? Too funny!

  6. Rosey ~ That winter video is a funny thing. In the beginning, I am oohing and gasping and then it all becomes just too much and I start laughing. The first time I watched it my stomach hurt by the time it was over.

Alex ~ You might want to rethink that. If you drop them behind you while you're driving, it is possible that the next car to roll over it will land on you or graze you while it's flying by.

Carol ~ Yeah, I think you might have to get in line for that call.

Robyn ~ I know. That clip made me want to watch it again, too.

Liza ~ Ah... the "everyone" clips. Some I find on FB, some my mom emails to me, some I see on the pages of other bloggers, and some I stumble into on YouTube. I got that one from Mom.

  7. Now that's what I'm talking about.

Here's a bit of trivia that you probably already know. That version of 'Time After Time' is by Mark Williams and Tara Morice. Who are they you might ask?
well to be honest, I have no idea who Mark Williams is, but he does have a nice voice. Tara Morice in the actress you see dancing there with Paul Mercurio. Yep, she's an actress like in the 'good ole days' when they could sing, dance and act and do all three quite well.

Thanks for the clip. I really like that movie.

  8. Yeah, that is definitely a good version of 'Time After Time'. And the entire movie is quite enjoyable as well.

  9. Hi there, Ms Robin...

It's the story of Love... it's all about Love...

That's the only way anything works...

  10. Hey Robin,

You should totally do Twitter :) With your humor, it would be fun to read your Tweets :)

Put me down as an advance follower :)

  11. Good ones. The snow one for Rosey is so funny. I bet a lot of those pratfalls hurt because I know how they feel. I did one on our daily walk and it wasn't much fun. The buffalo one had me falling out of my chair.

I love Stricktly Ballroom. Trouble is, all my good old dance films are on the old fat VHS things and I'm going to toss my little player.

Have you been noticing how the name of J.B. has been coming to the fore?

  12. SO: do you KNOW all these clips and just have them ready for people? Because you have a comprehensive knowledge of pop culture that is enviable.

I like the Kelly Clarkson one.

  13. FAE ~ I KNEW that you would like this one. I actually had something else for you this week and then changed my mind after reading your post. So, you just never know how this will play out until it rolls out. I am actually surprised by the number of people who can act and sing. When you throw in dance, you have the trifecta. If you watch Dancing With The Stars, you can see that for some it eventually happens. Others? Nope. Did you see the movie Pitch Perfect? It is about these competing acapella groups who incorporate dance into their routines. The dance part may not be great, but the acting and singing... pretty good.

Stephen ~ After watching some clips and reading all of the glowing endorsements I am adding it to my List.

Shoes ~ Yeah, it really does all come down to that:)

Mark ~ I am considering Twitter especially if I have one follower right off the bat. Will keep you posted...

Manzi ~ I am going to sound like my mom now, but she would tell you to go to a pawn shop and buy another little player (if yours isn't work). If it works and you just don't want it any longer, then I would say buy your favorite movies on DVD and upgrade.

Briane P ~ A process question. Well, when this thing works best I am reading someone's post and I think of something that I might find on YouTube that reminds me of it. Then I pop over there and look it up. Sometimes they have it and sometimes they don't. So, usually it is stuff that I already know about. The exception in today's post is the video for farawayeyes. She talked on her blog and in my comments for Battle of the Bands about this movie. It is her favorite version of Time After Time.
    I like Breakaway, too...

  14. love these dedications this week inspiring songs - glory of love and breakaway!
    and the comic is hysterical!

    happy friday!!

  15. Oh yeah! Thanks for the song. It's perfect! I can also relate to the fight against winter, and now I want to watch Strictly Ballroom again. That was one of our favorite movies in my apartment during college.

  16. I'm pretty sure I've had nightmares similar to that people vs winter video, specifically that bus swinging around the street like a 30,000 lb pendulum. There's really no running from that, there's only praying you're not in its path while simultaneously soiling yourself.

  17. Great clips! I'll bet that guy in the first one will slow down when he drives through that neighborhood again...

  18. Those little dinos (or dragons) are so cool! I would take them as my pets.
You wouldn't believe there are bumps that can do that here in Mexico, and without the need of springs.
Thanks for the video, you seem to have a gift to give me what I need to hear. :)

  19. Tara ~ Those dragons are pretty darn cute!

Charity ~ You are most welcome:)

ABFTS ~ You are absolutely right about that bus. I love how the person who made this slowed it down and set it to music. Hahahaha.

Susan ~ You have a valid point.

Al ~ Ah, I think we all have (or have had) a Mr. Price in our lives. Hold on to your dreams!

  20. Thanks so much for thinking of my Genetic Engineering stories. I hope they don't cancel that show. You're the best.

  21. I really loved Bette Midler in Beaches! I also teared up when she sang at the Oscars. She still looks great too!

  22. Susan ~ Glad you liked it!

Julie ~ I haven't seen Beaches in such a long time. Makes me want to watch it again.

    Karen ~ :)

  23. OMG I loved the speed bump. I couldn't understand a word that was said but I definitely got a laugh out of it which was what I needed to laugh so that I could forget that I am really having a hard time the last hour with dealing with my craving for a cigarette. I'll just keep replaying that video every time a craving starts.
