Not A Right, But A Privilege?

I don't know about you, but I am still reading fairly frequent posts and/or articles about Gun Control.  For the most part, there wasn't much changing in the dialogue.... until today.  Today I read this post.  Did that shock you?  As for me, I had to google it to see what I could find on the subject.

Apparently there are people out there who think that taxing guns and ammunition is THE SOLUTION for curbing gun violence.  Of course, the only people who will be taxed are registered gun owners.  The criminals who have unregistered weapons, and commit almost all of the crime, will not be paying any more tax than they already are.  But this isn't figuring into anyone's thought process.

What is figuring into the thought process is what I read here: since gun ownership is a PRIVILEGE, imposing the tax will make many people rethink their love of firearms.  It will work much the same way it has with all SIN items, like cigarettes, alcohol, and gambling (aka casinos).  Say what?  Has the writer of this article ever read our Constitution?  The ownership of firearms is not a PRIVILEGE.  It is a RIGHT.  It is called THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS.  It is the 2ND AMENDMENT.  HELLOOOO.  There is no mention of protecting smokers, drinkers, and gamblers from being overly taxed.  Although, I personally think gauging someone just because you can is wrong.  At this point, we all know that cigarettes cause cancer, too much alcohol kills, and if you gamble excessively you can lose everything you have.  However, I believe in personal responsibility.  Until you own your own stuff, you can't fix it.  Getting back to the point... comparing Gun Ownership by Law Abiding Citizens to Sin Items is Outrageous.

Moreover, if the government decides to go down this road simply because they cannot win their Gun Control Agenda any other way, it could have terrible consequences (aside from guns).  Let's face it, they are losing the gun argument Big-Time.  The more they try to push Gun Control, all that happens is that gun sales and ammo skyrocket.  I said it before, but I will say it again, "Our President is the best gun salesman ever."  To counteract that, the only thing this Administration can think to do is TAX the bejeesus out of what they have done an excellent job of selling.

I need everyone to stop and think for a moment.

Let's remove Guns from this equation.  Let's just say that the Government has the power to impose regulations on the size of Anything you own.   Anything larger than {insert object of your choice} is a SIN ITEM ( according to the article above like cigarettes, alcohol, and casinos) and should be taxed.  For instance, all cars beyond a certain horsepower will be taxed above and beyond other vehicles.  I do believe that this has already happened in some other countries.  I vaguely remember reading about car confiscations from border checkpoints in Europe due to nonpayments of taxes.  They were related to horsepower of the vehicle.  Absolutely insane.  Another idea... Henceforth, no one can own more than 300 sq ft of house per person.  If your house is larger than that and you don't have enough people to fill it, than you pay the tax.  If you did have enough people, but someone dies, than you have to start paying the tax to cover the loss of that person.  You can also only have 1/4 acre lot.  If you have more than that, you will from this point forward pay a tax on it.  You are taking up more of nature than your Fair Share.

Once you allow your rights to be infringed and the 2nd Amendment to be taxed, be prepared.  They will not stop there.

  1. Well said, Robyn! That puts it in perspective.
Funny you should mention the automobile tax, because in my state, the larger the vehicle, the higher the registration fee and tax. It's already happening...

    1. I went back and looked up the country in question... it is Italy that has placed the Supertax on horsepower. In theory, it is aimed at sports cars. However, they have set their sights fairly low and most cars are getting caught in the crossfire. The tax is also cumulative so you get socked annually. The Horsepower tax is additional to other automotive taxes. I wonder if Venice is seeing an influx of population?

BTW, I also didn't mention that taxing all of these SIN items hasn't slowed their usage down at all. At least, I don't see their sales going down. I just see people PAYING MORE TAX. So, it really isn't curbing anything.

  2. Boy, if outlawing guns would get them off the street we should outlaw meth and heroine. Taxing guns and ammunition would provide some "revenue" wouldn't it? These liberals have made Democrat a religion - they just follow the doctrine - tax, spend, regulate - it is their trinity. Take care.

    1. I do have a problem with the ideology of "let's tax the people so fiercely that they won't want to own a gun." That is a TAX THEM INTO THE GROUND philosophy. We will tax you so mightily that you will voluntarily give away your RIGHTS. Why? Because we will TAX YOU until you beg us to take your rights away. Let me put it another way... If you don't agree with me, if you don't embrace my ideology, I will just tax you into oblivion. Can someone explain to me how that isn't oppressive government????

  3. And the debate goes on. They'll keep trying to hit every angle of this issue. Personally, I'd rather see the tax imposed on guns and weapons than have owner registration that allows the government to know who has what. Of course then they could track us down if we paid by check or credit card. They could also implant tracking devices in weapons and ammo.

Let's face it we'll all get screwed by the government eventually.

    1. I have a problem with the government wielding taxation as a weapon to try and get what they want or take what they want. What if they decided they ultimately wanted to take people's homes and decided to tax people out of them? If we have allowed them to tax us out of our guns, how would we stop them? I am just TOSSING IT OUT...

  4. That is the plan to take the property, but first the guns must go. China gave the word. They will transfer debt into equity because they want to own parts of the US for a free trade zone.
CNOOC just recently purchased Nexen, Inc, a Canadian firm for 15.1 billion that has oil holdings in the Gulf of Mexico. That means China will be drilling in our back yard and will our gov't buy Canadian oil through China? Looks like it. But China is eager to come into US so our guns have to go, same as theirs went. Have you seen the videos of China's army? And ours is shrinking every day.

    1. You are not the first person who has said EXACTLY THIS about property and our government for precisely these reasons. The only thing standing in between our government seizing our property is the 2nd Amendment. We have to ask ourselves this one question: Why is China continuing to fund our huge, unpayable deficit? What do they have as collateral on that debt? And the ONLY ANSWER is our natural resources, including our land. That land is currently occupied by our private citizenry AND that is a real problem for China, because RIGHT NOW that same citizenry can, and will, defend itself with guns should the government try and seize land it has no entitlement to seize. Should the govt. actually get away with Gun Confiscation, China and that Army you are talking about can finally get what has been promised them to start paying back that monstrous deficit.

I hope people start waking up to this cold reality very soon.

  5. Well, the whole goal of both the Democrat and Republican parties is to obliterate the U.S. Constitution and replace it with a single GLOBAL GOVERNMENT that will be run by totalitarian dictators (read: International Bankers).

The ONLY THING holding up the GLOBAL GOVERNMENT (known as the "New World Order") is the Second Amendment in America. That is the SOLE roadblock. And that's why there has been so much focus on Guns lately.

The International Bankers are tired of waiting for their New World Order, and so the entire demonic agenda has shifted into Fifth Gear. Sixth Gear (read: 666) will represent the culmination of all their work for over 100 years.

Unfortunately, The Holy Bible clearly states that the International Bankers WILL have their New World Order... for awhile.

Don't give up your guns, but don't think you can change what "is written" either.

  6. So looking at all this, then my overwhelming feeling that the united part of the U.S. is over and the country is going to split in some fashion sooner than I might have ever imagined sounds like a pretty decent alternative...

    1. Honestly, Jasmine, none of these alternatives sound good to me. I think that we are headed into dark days for our country. With that said, even people who lived through the Holocaust had an opportunity for their souls to shine in what they had to have considered the Darkest Days of their life.

    2. People like me who have been through plenty of dark days in our own personal lives don't seem to have much want of experiencing any more of that. Honestly I do so much better when I am not constantly fighting against something that is holding me down. Maybe it's selfish. Maybe I would break if I continued on down the road of always having to fight.
I just know that for me I am going to try emulating my friend from Texas who is so good at pointing out the truth with such a sweet demeanor. She gets her message across without being lost in constantly being the bad guy or coming across as argumentative.
Doesn't mean I don't get the more in depth stuff. Just seems healthier for me to stay positive in whatever way I can.

    3. I totally understand that. I think that whatever works to get people to start thinking is ALL GOOD:) I want to meet people where they are. I think that is what your friend is doing, too. I definitely don't want to be The Bad Guy or argue with anyone. And I think every situation offers an opportunity for us to be the loving people that we are... that is what I was trying to say. There is no place that we go that we are not Loved and able to be Love. Does that make sense?

  7. >> . . . We have to ask ourselves this one question: Why is China continuing to fund our huge, unpayable deficit? What do they have as collateral on that debt?

You are correct, ROBIN. But don't stop there with just that one question.

We have to ask ourselves a second, related question:

Why does our government - BOTH Democrat AND Republican administrations - continue along the same obviously disastrous economic path year after year? Why has neither party (both of them claiming to care about the welfare of the American People) proposed to alter our economic formula, dismantle the biggest problem in America (i.e., The Federal Reserve) and return us to a sound fiscal policy?

Why do both major political parties keep us on what has obviously been a road to ruin? The answer is clear: Ruining the USA is in fact the goal of America's Insiders in both parties.

The Socratic Method will always lead logical minds to the same conclusion: The fix is in against We The People.

    1. I don't think EVERYONE in government is in on this FIX. I think some people have been fighting it, albeit unsuccessfully. Or let's say with limited success... because the more people who become aware and informed the better. I think that the only chance we have now of preventing this catastrophe is the American people waking up and seeing the writing on the wall. If that should happen, well it would get a lot more interesting. We The People are freaking amazing when we finally get it together and Unite. I can't see This Plan standing a chance in the face of a newly energized, wide awake We The People.

This is me knocking on brains: Wake Up.

  8. I am convinced Obama supporters fall into several categories: Radical revolutionaries, Marxists, uninformed, ignorant, uneducated, or the worst of the lot - the "cool," who elected him just to be cool. No American could support his disastrous policies with a straight face.

It is so cool to spout anti-American ideals at cocktail parties, in public venues, in the media, and in schools, where we are now seeing the results of two generations of 1960s liberals running the education system.

The USA of the WWII generation is no more. Still, there is much worth saving, but 50% of America is now enslaved in the name of freedom by a wolf in sheep's clothing, and to enslave the other half, it is necessary to end gun ownership.

    1. I agree. It is not possible to go further with the Marxist/Socialist Agenda without dismantling the 2nd Amendment. So, this Gun Violence debate will continue to be "on the table" until this Administration finds a way to completely demolish the 2nd Amendment. You are also right about there being so much worth saving... I keep hoping and praying that people start to see what is actually going on here. So, this isn't over by a long shot... (pun totally intended).
