WHAT I KNOW TODAY

A truth is a truth. Choosing to believe it or not believe it doesn't make it any more or less true.

I've learned many things ~ and forgotten them ~ and remembered them as I've gone along in this life journey. I'm going to share some of those with you now. Some of them I've learned from you just recently. When I say learned. I really mean remembered. I already knew it. You just reminded me that I knew it. So thanks.

Whenever you choose to stop learning, you are in the process of dying.

This life seems so real that we think it is. The only things that are real are us. We can change our "reality" at any time.

If we keep getting the same lesson it means we haven't learned it.

The whole deal with "lessons" is that we signed up for them before we were born. Some of the lessons were intended to be hard. With that in mind, does it make sense to hate the teacher? Taking that one step further, if we don't learn the lesson and have to take the class again, does it make sense to hate the next teacher? Or the next?

Change your reality and things like anger, forgiveness, hatred, and even love all take on different meaning. It really is all about you. You and the difference you make in your life and the lives of people around you. Are you seeing yourself differently?

You can't save everyone.

When writing a novel, you have to write the ending first.

No one can change for someone else. All change, big and small, has to be made for yourself.

Life isn't going to turn out the way you think it will. You're not going to get all the things that you wanted. You're going face terrible losses and exquisite joys. Most of your life will very likely be spent in the middle ground. Your challenge is to find joy in the chaos of everyday life.

Find the courage to walk away from a situation that is emotionally tearing you up. It doesn't matter what the cost is to other people. They are responsible for themselves. At the end of the day, you have no power over anyone's choices but your own.

When you are ready for the lesson, the teacher will come.

I will never be as smart, as pretty, as talented, as craft-oriented, as artistic, as lyrical a writer, as interested in politics, etc. as so many of you, but we all have special gifts and simply by reaching out and sharing, we touch each other and make each other "more," for this blogging experience.

That is what I know today.
