Battle of the Bands Results and 30 Seconds Sale!

Multi-tasking in this post. I've got two things to tell you. One is the results for Battle of the Bands. The other is a blogger friend whose book has gone on sale. Don't want you to miss out!

First, Battle of the Bands. I think the clear-cut winner in this battle was the trailer for Daylight Savings Time. Ha! But, they weren't part of the battle, so let's get down to the song: Chain of Fools and the contenders (The Commitments vs Eva Cassidy). Some of you are (fairly) new to this game, so you probably don't recall that I've put Eva up in two battles prior to this one. She lost them both spectacularly. To be fair, her version of Autumn Leaves got much good comment, but I pitted her against Louis Armstrong (probably not the best idea). So, it was a refreshing change of pace (for me, at least) to see her take a strong lead in this battle early. The Commitments pushed back hard in the middle, but Eva voters turned out in droves at the end, so she solidly won this one (even without my vote, which she ultimately would've gotten). However, I must say again that I really like both versions of this song, so there really wasn't a "wrong" vote, not that there ever is. ;)

The Commitments: 7
Eva Cassidy: 16 (with my vote)

Now, here's the dish on how to get Chrys Fey's book for just $.99.

99 CENT SALE on 30 SECONDS by Chrys Fey!!!

Sale ends Nov. 20th so take advantage now!

Blurb:

When Officer Blake Herro agreed to go undercover in the Mob, he thought he understood the risks. But he's made mistakes and now an innocent woman has become their target. He's determined to protect her at all costs.

The Mob's death threat turns Dr. Dani Hart's life upside down, but there is one danger she doesn’t anticipate. As she's dodging bullets, she's falling in love with Blake. With danger all around them, will she and Blake survive and have a happy ending, or will the Mob make good on their threat?

Excerpt:

She had no time to react when a strong force bowled her through the doorway of her apartment, and a large hand plastered over her mouth. The man she had bumped into on the stairs had a firm grip on her as he kicked the door closed behind them. She struggled to get free, but his hold kept her back pressed against his chest.

“It’s okay. I’m a cop. My name is Blake Herro.” He hauled her into the living room. “There are six armed men coming up the stairs. We need to hide. Where can we hide?”

Her mind went blank, she even forgot about the ice cream.

“Where?” he demanded with a quick shake.

She pointed to the six-foot long, three-foot high handcrafted cedar chest she used for a coffee table. Officer Herro pulled her to it and flung open the lid.

“Get in,” he ordered.

  1. I like the way you create suspense when you announce the winner. I'm sitting here, "Well who is it, who is it?" I'm glad to see you spelled Chrys Fey's name wrong too. I did it too. I went to her blog and wrote Chris and was going back and change it but then I thought, Oh what the heck. They both have the same sound. LOL

  7. Well I lost because I voted for the Commitments but I don't feel bad that I lost to her. It was a tough battle.
I love that you're giving Chrys a shout- out! I follow her blog and on FB. Its so exciting to read a book and say "um hm I kinda know the author in real life". I need to make sure I get the Mob story while its so inexpensive!!

    1. Hi Holli! I loved your comment about kinda knowing the author in real life. I feel the same way when I read a book by an author I know through social media too. :)
