Ta da. If you thought there would be no HERE'S TO YOU post this week... surprise! I actually have a good deal of material sitting in my Favorites file, just waiting for this auspicious occasion.
If
you don't know what this HERE'S TO YOU stuff is about, let me explain.
This used to be a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays. When I
read your blogs or you say something in the comments that sparks my
imagination (or I hear something and I think of you), chances are good I
will click over to YouTube to find footage for you. In the old days you
wouldn't have to reach back in your memory bank farther than one week.
Now... all bets are off. It could be several weeks ago.
The best (or worst)
part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage
for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head
at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all
is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com
and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of
footage off of YouTube and connected it to you. And then I will tell
you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the
crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol.
Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you
enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.
Also,
this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take
the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad
footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I
dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you
haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something
that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your
personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble
watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side),
click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to
youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the
video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring
it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.
Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!

I've always loved all the Bond movies..... action galore. I remember that DWTS show. The two brothers are my favorites. The look of the people's face's in the car video is priceless.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you found so much here to appreciate today!
DeleteFirefly - you are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI knew you would like that one!
DeleteWow, I can't believe how harsh those judges are on Dancing with the stars. I thought both dancers were fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty particular. I actually enjoy the judging as much as the dancing. The irony is that Len often sounds the most harsh (he gets Boos regularly from the audience), while Carrie Ann (usually) is the nicest, and Bruno is always the most dramatic... BUT in the end, they usually score the same (or darn near). B&B got that video because they (too) phoned it in this week!!! Ha!
DeleteYou always blow me away with how thoughtful you are in matching us with the videos. I do love to go against the grain. It's a great, fun song, and the video - especially the quick scenes of the nudie guy - had me laughing and dancing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Robin!
It was fun to also watch the DWTS. I thought she looked a little stiff, actually. But I'm just jealous. I told B&B that their mentally challenged goat with an orthopedic shoe dances better than me.
I can't believe you didn't watch the show Firefly. Don't tell Alex b.c. he might go into cardiac arrest!
DeleteB&B do better with their "phoned in" posts than I do on days when I am actually trying, so it is all relative:)
Still no "September Song" from Shatner.
ReplyDeleteThe disappearing car was a hoot.

A Faraway View
I looked for Shatner's version of September Song, but no luck. I thought this was a good bit, though.
DeleteThat was funny:)
Great song for Robyn, and I'm a huge DWTS fan! I hope Maks comes back!
ReplyDeleteJulie
I can live without Max so long as we keep Val:)
DeleteCan you believe that Shatner did an album with Ben Folds (remember Ben Folds Five?)...and it wasn't all that bad...he last effort was a progressive album that was painful even for me (a progressive rock fan).
ReplyDeleteLC
I don't recall that, though I am not a huge Ben Folds fan (though I do like some of his stuff). I am always amazed, though I shouldn't be, by your extensive knowledge regarding music.
DeleteI hate that Maks won't be in this seasons' DWTS! He's all kinds of delicious! Love the James Bond movies for sure!
ReplyDeleteI saw a headline somewhere (Bing? Yahoo?) indicating that the next line-up for DWTS was out, but I didn't read it. I like to watch that show when I remember, but I don't get all that upset it I miss it.... Like I told Julie, I can live without Maks so long as Val is on:)
DeleteThat disappearing car gag really made me laugh! Thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome!
Delete"The name is Eyes... FarAway Eyes."
ReplyDelete"The name is C... McC."
CRASH! BANG! BOOM!
Ha! You was eavesdropping on a very (not so) private conversation. And by the way, I still thinks I can take Bond... James Bond... in an arm wrasslin' contest. (I don't care what LC sez.)
I'm no Star Trek fan but I gotta like William Shatner. Anyone who can poke fun at himself like that and make himself the butt of a long-running joke like that is someone I can 'ppreciate.
I still remember that comedy skit he did on some show where he was addressing a bunch of Trekies at a convention and told 'em it was time they moved out of their parents' basements, etc. That was howlingly funny to me! (What was that on, 'Saturday Night Live'? It seemed way too funny to be a 'Saturday Night Live' skit but maybe it was. Heck, even a broken clock is funny twice a day. Hmmm... Well, you know what I mean.)
Thanks for the double nod, Girl Wonder, even if I did have to share both of them with two other bloggers.

Sometimes I get the best ideas for these HERE'S TO YOU posts from the comments, which suggests that I should ALWAYS read them. Of course, that means giving double-billing. So, there you go. At least, you share the posts with some of your favorite bloggers:)
DeleteAnd now you know who Daniel Craig is... Since I haven't seen your arm wrasslin' abilities I will just have to take your word on it. And FAE watched the video and indicated in her comment that she STILL thinks you're The Sexiest Man Alive, so there you have it.
That Williams Shatner video makes me laugh every time I watch it. I honestly think one of his best roles came long after Star Trek as Denny Crane on Boston Legal. As you might suspect... I cannot just say that without including at least two links (because I know you have NO IDEA what I am talking about here)...

I didn't see that skit but Shatner is irreverent and completely willing to laugh at himself, so that skit doesn't surprise me at all.
I realize I should have closed with something like...

A little Malcolm Reynolds takes me smoothly into the weekend. Have a good one.
ReplyDeleteEverybody loves Malcolm Reynolds. Well, you and I do. Good enough!
DeleteHa, ha, ha! Daniel Craig STILL doesn't do it for me. In my book STMcC gets to keep the title.
ReplyDeleteHe will be thrilled by your pronouncement. At least now he will know with whom he was compared... hahahahaha.
DeleteEveryone ~ Thanks for the wonderful comments. I will try to get back tomorrow to comment back to you....
ReplyDeletewell- having read your take on who you read and/or response to- here's this:

I think this is pretty damn good poetry.....
That car prank is hilarious!
ReplyDeleteWow, we suck. Sorry we made it over here so late! The week just got away from us and we didn't do much blog reading last week at all.
ReplyDeleteOuch! I cringed at that video! I was wondering, "Where is this going?" and then the judge told him he totally phoned it in. I hope no one ever calls us out like that!
Sorry I missed it the first time around. I am still not exactly sure why I deserve the dedication, but if you want honest, pick any 3 minutes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kg9m1F8B2_c
ReplyDeleteLove the car!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of William Shatner... which version do you prefer:
ReplyDeleteTHIS one (the original).... or THIS one?
The suspense is killing me.... ;)
DeleteOkay, I didn't have time to watch these yesterday. That Shatner version was Hilarious (and I actually understood the words!!!). So, I guess I will give it to him for making me LOL.
DeleteGreat videos. Thanks for the laughs on a couple of them but awwwww I am really loving that cute little furry baby in that teacup!!!
