Before I unleash today's HERE'S TO YOU post, I want to take a minute and remind you to vote in The Battle of The Bands if you missed it. You can CLICK HERE to listen and vote. I will publish the results on 2/22/14.
Drum roll please.
It is Thursday and that means it
is HERE'S TO YOU day! All in all, the best day of the week here on YOUR
DAILY DOSE. Why? Because it's a celebration for YOU.
If you don't know what this HERE'S TO YOU stuff is about, let me explain. This
is a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays. The best (or worst)
part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage
for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head
at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all
is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com
and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of
footage off of youtube and connected it to you. And then I will tell
you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the
crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol.
Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you
enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.
Also,
this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take
the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad
footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I
dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you
haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something
that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your
personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble
watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side),
click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to
youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the
video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring
it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.
Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!

ReplyDeleteThat clip hits those guys on numerous levels....
DeleteMy personal favorite:
Ellie: Would you mind if I made this about me?
Jules: I'd be surprised if you didn't.
Hahahahahaha.
How have I never seen this feature before? Oh yeah, I'm never online on Thursdays. Love ti!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't take the time to watch all the clips but I watched a couple - including the scene from The Music Man, one of my all time favorites. It made my morning. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea.
ReplyDeleteThe correct words can make all the difference in the world, that's is sooo true!
ReplyDeleteI'm listening to mine right now. Clearly you chose it because I am fluent in Spanish? (By which I mean I can say "Hable despacio por favor," which means "Speak more slowly, please," which is intended to help but it doesn't because I don't understand much else in Spanish, no matter how slowly it is spoken. I do know how to say "Two hamburgers, please." ("Dos hamburguesas por favor") and how to say "The much-feared Mr. Gill And The Frogs. ("El medroso Senor Gill y las ranas.") The latter is from a skit I had to do in 10th grade Spanish. Mr. Gill was our 10th grade biology teacher. That is the sum and substance of what I remember from 10th grade.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying my music very much!
Also: The Lego thing? I'm SLIGHTLY MORE ADVANCED than that. Slightly. (I'd have put fins on it. Everyone knows spaceships have fins. How else are you going to steer them? It's SCIENCE.)
ReplyDeleteOH YEAH! LOVE TODAY by MIKA! I love that song it's the only song besides "Happy" by Pharrell that actually makes me DANCE.
ReplyDelete(PS: Pharrell is not pronounced like "feral" It's pronounced by emphasizing the "rell" part: Fa-RELL. I learned the hard way: the young people in my office laughed at me.)
Loved the clips this week especially the first clip, which I really need to try. My alarm clock doesn't say Time to go to work, but its going off means that it is time which is why I love the snooze button. :) Great post and videos this week!
ReplyDeleteCrystal ~ If you're not here on Thursday, you miss the best of this blog's week!
ReplyDeleteLD ~ I love The Music Man, too!
Sandra ~ Me too!
Al ~ How we say something has the ability to change Everything.
Briane P ~ I warned you that I was going to try and go with your theory. Did I succeed? No, I didn't choose that video because of your indelible Spanish skills. And that Lego bit was actually a credit to your Lego building and the spaceship was mine... Ha!
GG ~ Yeah, my alarm clock is filled with negative connotations, too. It doesn't speak. It just blares.
Time to go to work...so glad I have a cell phone alarm instead!
ReplyDeleteShriley Jones was/is such a beautiful talent. Too bad the Partridge family didn't begin to showcase her gifts. That was the perfect pick for Yvonne.
ReplyDeleteBe well, Robin.
xoRobyn
I especially like the Time to Make a Difference one.
ReplyDeleteYou do.
The Landfill Harmonic is so cool. I'd seen another video about this. I'd love to have one of those violins.

Lol! Great vids. And how can legos do all that crap? Amazed!
ReplyDeleteThose gals on Cougar Town sure do suffer from SIDD!

Thank you so much for having THON on for everyone to see. Brought tears to my eyes like it does every time. It starts at 6 PM today. At the moment, a relay of runners are carrying letters from the cancer patients in Hershey Medical Center who are too sick to be there. The runners carry them the 110 miles to Penn State, running all night through some of the highest mountains in this part of the state. Go Thon!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for having me on your blog.
Not only the right words, but the right actions. That Penn State dance marathon for the Diamond Fund? Amazing.
ReplyDeleteM.J. ~ It is amazing the things that cell phones will do. But they will always be just a tool...
ReplyDeleteRobyn ~ Every time I watch The Music Man certain aspects of it make me feel like I've walked into the past. Other parts of it will always be relevant... no matter what year it is.
Carol ~ Me too!
Arlee ~ I am amazed every time I watch one of those videos with what that music director, the kids, well... the whole town really has done to make a positive difference. Everyone who lives there is better for it and then you look at the people they touch... that is making a wonderful difference!
Leandra ~ I had Legos as a kid and never seemed to make much of anything. Hmm.
Julie ~ Hahahaha. :)
Susan ~ The more I watched on YouTube about this event, the more emotional I became about it. I LOVE this event.
Liza ~ Agreed. The right words with the right actions.... wow.
All of these are terrific, but my favorite is the first one. A change in words and attitude can lead to a huge change in response.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Fun! Love when you do these. And that first vid remains one of my all time faves. :D
ReplyDeleteWow, so I popped over here just to see this post for kicks and grins. And I'm incredibly flattered to be mentioned in this. So... you're saying that we're cougar bait, right?
ReplyDeleteSo confession, I've never seen that show, but I get a kick out of this Ellie woman. I always loved Christa Miller in the Drew Carey Show and in Scrubs. She's so great at playing the mean, confident, say-whatever-I-feel-like queen bee.
You want to know why this video is especially up my alley? I married that woman. She's the type who's so confident that when I tell her "you look wonderful today" the usual response is "I already know that. Now say something more creative. You're a writer." And I'll be damned if I wouldn't have it any other way. Beats "does this make me look fat?" any day of the week.
Susan and Pk ~ I love that first one too!
ReplyDeleteABFTS ~ No, I am not saying that you're cougar bait. LOL. This is a shout out to your SIDD's piece. Like I said to Alex above...
My personal favorite:
Ellie: Would you mind if I made this about me?
Jules: I'd be surprised if you didn't.
Hahahahahaha.
That said, Ellie is still my favorite character on the show. And I think I'd like your wife... a lot. "Does that make me sound gay?" Just kidding. Do I look like someone who cares????
OK, Robin. You've got me. This is my second viewing of my video and I just can't seem to make the connection. I've never watched the show that it comes from, so maybe I'm missing some context?
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
