HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY

Hello friends.  It is THURSDAY!  Drum roll please....

That means it is HERE'S TO YOU day:)

Before we get into this post, I want to tell you a short story.  Sometime between last Thursday and today, someone wrote a blog referencing writing heroes and villains.  That gave me an idea for today.  I went to YouTube and found the video, but I didn't write down who was getting the dedication.  (Note: A similar thing happened when I took off a week. I came back and there was this video in my Saved Videos and I had no idea who it belonged to.)  I tried throwing it out there to see if someone would claim it.  Nope. It didn't happen. However, I am going to try it again.  If this one is YOURS, tell me in the comments.  From here on out, I am writing this stuff down. Apparently, my brain is melting.

If you don't know what this HERE'S TO YOU stuff is about, let me explain.  This is a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays.  The best (or worst) part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of footage off of youtube and connected it to you. And then I will tell you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol. Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.

Also, this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side), click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.

Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!

  1. It was great fun to see the Six Million Dollar Man again. I'd forgotten how clever that show was, and how hot and powerful Lee Majors was.

    Be well, Robin.

    1. Yes, Mark did in fact *love* the SMDM clip....

(Ohhhh, writing Six Million Dollar Man out like that sounds like a weird fetish-type activity :)

  3. The Prep H joke had me howling-people in the office seemed concerned...

The drive into work today was so bad, I assumed it was "Lend The Family Idiot The Car" day...the dog is a better driver than most people in Arizona.

If we could just stop the dumb ones from producing offspring.....can't we give them free adoptions from the SPCA if those parental instincts flare up?

  5. Robyn ~ I loved that show back in the day. And Yes...

Alex ~ Wasn't that too funny???

    Carol ~ Yay!

Larry ~ That Bill Engvall is hilarious. Here's Your Sign! Here is what I have noticed... people who would be amazing parents so often can't or don't have kids. People who have no interest in parenting produce tons of kids. What's up with that???

Liza ~ It was a good one, no????

  6. ROBIN ~
    Thanks for remembering me.

I loved the driving dog clip, and Larry's video was funny too.

I have paid so little attention to my blog lately ('BOTB' is pretty much all I've been doing with any heart) that I couldn't even imagine what video you might post that would pertain to my blog.

It still took me two minutes of listening before I think I got it. Mary Ellen? A reference to my discussion about The Waltons and Mary Ellen's... uh... photo shoot sans clothing?

Dang, that was going back some. Which I guess was necessary since I've been mostly AWOL lately. I have some good, juicy political-social stuffs in mind, but between the holidays, a computer virus, and beer... I just never seemed to get to it.

Anyway, thanks again. (Now where's that photograph of raw Mary Ellen you should have included with the video?)

  7. Aloha Robin,

I was happily reading and then scrolling down the list - thinking this is a cool idea for a post - and then I saw me!

... and I cackled out loud... it was never even a laugh... it was a full on cackle :)

So, thanks for that and I appreciate the Six Million Dollar shout out :)

  8. Ha! I guess that's appropriate. What I really liked is the Bill Engvalls clip- America, here's your sign! Thanks.

  9. It was fun seeing the smart dog, and the Six Million Dollar Man! It was amazing how well Lee Majors' hair stayed in place while he was running!

  12. Stephen ~ Here's the thing... I was listening to my IPod on shuffle and this song came on. And I thought, "I bet Stephen will appreciate this song." Usually I try to tie a dedication directly to a post. Sometimes, after reading someone long enough I can see or hear something and think, "Yeah they would like that. Or this is saying in its own way some of the things that this person writes about in their blog." So, don't dig up your blog looking for something specific. Instead, think about the feeling that the lyrics evoke. Uncle Larry's hooked on ice again He seems to be stuck in the 80's....I'll have mine in martini glasses Cause I can't take it anymore...These are the days of empty kitchens...I think she's found a new religion Studying the Kabalah in her J Crew...Well I'll have mine with Blackstrap molasses Cause I can't taste it anymore...My friend Greg says it's all good As the eastern seaboard's blown away Now everything is going half-price So look at all the money we saved And all the politicians shake their asses Looking for the backdoor...No and I can't take it anymore.

Mark ~ Sooner or later everyone gets tagged in the Thursday post. For you it just turned out to be SOONER. Aloha!!!

FAE ~ I don't know why we tend to take the long way around. Fortunately, most of us end up Getting There in the end. Whew!

Julie ~ Yeah, that is funny. It would be interesting to see a reboot of that show. I can't believe I just said that considering how I feel about remakes....

GG ~ That smart dog cracks me up every time. The cupcakes do look good, don't they????

Susan ~ He did! And you, too.

  13. I cannot believe you found something so darned appropriate! You are amazing, girl...
I'm glad that you are always on top of Thursday and I wish I was so good at keeping up with my blog. In time, I plan to get better.
Love the video of 'failures'. It is so true that it's what we do with what we get that makes the difference.

  14. Good picks! I especially got a kick out of the first one. It was a hoot seeing the way the people reacted to seeing the dog in the driver's seat.

  15. Here's to you on Saturday morning. Time zones! You are, as Penny would say, most pawceptive with your video choices. As for that dawg, Penny has an international drivers licence.

    Have a nice weekend, Robin.

    Gary :)

  16. Thanks, ROBIN. Guess I was looking too deeply for specifics rather than at the general theme.

Interestingly, I did kind of like the song even though ordinarily there is nothing about Sheryl Crow that appeals to me.

Yeah, Martini glasses - that'll work because "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

I can't figure out what in the world she means by "looking for the two and four". Although I know I'd like to take a 2x4 to a number of people out behind the woodshed.

I'm pleased to announce that I've never owned a Members Only jacket. I am, however, "stuck in the '80s", but that would be the 1880s.

    2. The two times that Looking for the two and four is mentioned is after "The white folks shake their asses and The rich folks shake their asses." I, too, have wondered about this lyric and cannot find anything definitive on the internet that explains it. The best that I can come up with (though it may not be remotely correct) is that people are first seeking to couple and then the ideal family is two children. So, the white kids and rich kids are looking to become two and then four. I suppose the rest of the world either don't need to shake their asses to bring about this situation OR they aren't interested in becoming two and are more likely to have six.

  17. Jasmine ~ I just hope that you and the hubs have fun with your birthday. Your video was to get you in the mood!

Susan ~ The looks on people's faces... priceless!

Gary ~ Maybe you can teach Penny that trick!!!

  18. "Smart Dog Drives Smart Car", no one doubts that it is an intelligent dog.

Robin ..that dog, I think I have seen him driving in Smart Car "in Italy," but I remember that he also had sunglasses .....

    Thanks for the video.
