Me at the Infamous Welcome To Las Vegas sign
SURPRISE. Drum roll please. You're shocked, right?  Yesterday I said that the Thursday post was non-existent.  (Subtext: forget about it, because it isn't going to happen!)  And then the magic happened and you guys wrote amazing stuff and it all came together!!!

There is still time to vote for your favorite in The Battle of the Bands competition post.  Click here to read, listen, and make YOUR voice count.

This is a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays.  The best (or worst) part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all is not lost. You can email me at and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of footage off of youtube and connected it to you. And then I will tell you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.

Also, this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side), click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.

Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!

  1. Thank you, Robin! Yes, we started something alright...

  2. I miss Joan of Arcadia.....great show!

Loved the Buffet clips as well and it looked like you had a blast in Vegas :)

  3. We don't have to ask if you had a good time in Vegas. Your pictures answer to that. A fitting video selection once again. The food ordering vid would definitely be better if she made it herself. Ha

  4. Hi Robin,

Have you missed me? Yes? No? Who is this guy? I remember Jimmy Buffet. You had a great time in Las Vegas. In that top photo I thought for just one moment, you were wearing a very large hat! Yes, I need some sleep. Goodnight :)

  5. Glad you had a terrific time in Vegas! Great selection of songs!

  6. What a smorgasbord today! Or should I say a Vegas sized buffet?!

I could take all these videos for myself in one way or another. Once again, many of us here in bloggerland seem to be on the same page...

You make me want to visit everyone you've dedicated something to!

  7. Woo-Hoo! You made it to The Peppermill. How was the food? I've never eaten there (will do next time), but I had a good time in the cocktail room on the two occasions I stopped in there for some... "rub of the brush" (80 proof).

Now, the next time you see the movie 'CASINO' (or first time?) you will be able to say, "I stood where Sharon Stone sat"... or sumpin' like dat.

I need to get back to Vegas one o' these days. The El Cortez is calling me and... so is my money, from The Golden Gate Casino. They've had it long enuf and I wants it back, DAMN IT!

    ~ D-FensDogg
    'Loyal American Underground'

I once saw a Jack Sheldon concert at the Four Queens Hotel & Casino. Tonight I saw Booker T. Jones at the 'Musical Instrument Museum' in Phoenix. Both shows... excellent!

  8. Shawshank was such a good movie.

I'm glad your Vegas trip was amazing, which it looks like it was from the big smile on your face. :)

  9. So now we'll need your review of the Peppermill. I ate there but I can remember anything about the meal. I was in a weird circumstance there and was probably somewhat distracted. I do remember the interior of the place though.

    Tossing It Out

  10. Alex ~ Indeed:)

Mark ~ I miss Joan of Arcadia, too. It was a wonderful show! Lots of fun in Vegas!!!!

Manzanita ~ Great time in Vegas. Too bad I couldn't tuck you in my suitcase;) Laurie's coffee order cracks me up every time I see it.

Gary ~ Yes, I have missed you. Glad you're back.

Empty Nest Insider ~ Thank you.

Jasmine ~ Aha. Then it is working...

Stephen ~ The food was soooo good. And it was A LOT. Dinner was very light that night considering we were both still filled up from lunch. I haven't seen Casino yet, but I think I will appreciate it more now! Good luck on winning in Vegas. Just like everywhere else, things are tight there. And I couldn't believe how much food prices had increased since the last time we were there. The idea of charging the minimum for food so that people would spend it in the casino is a lost notion.

    mail4rosey ~ Yes and Yes!

  11. Another batch of perfection. Kudos to you, Robin. That coffee one was hilarious. She's pretty darn talented to spew all those orders out.

    Be well.

  12. Hi, Robin,
Really like Yellow Rose. Thanks so much for thinking of us. I couldn't have thought of a more appropriate song. :) By the way, that food is making me hungry.

  13. HA! I love that shot of you in front of the Vegas sign! Perfect & simply suits your personality to a T.

  14. These are all so kewl! Michael, what a talent. Thanks, Robin. Yup, started something for sure! Love the photos. I've only ever been to the airport Las Vegas. Probably a good thing. LOL.

  15. Hi Robin!
    Thank you for the dedication!
I love M.J. and you couldn't have chosen a more appropriate song... yeah!yeah!
I like your Las Vegas snapshot!
And Shawshank Redemption is my all time favourite movie!

  16. Great shot at the sign! It is you. Welcome home.

  17. Thank you for dedicating one to the IWSG admins. I hope we started something that will last a very long time.

I don't believe I visited the Peppermill. Then again, that was over 22 years ago. I was also on my honeymoon, so my mind was elsewhere.

  18. Thank you so much, Robin. I don't think I ever saw that vid though I did have the CD at some point in history.

  19. Robyn ~ That scene is one of my favorites. Always makes me smile.

JL ~ Yeah, that food is making me hungry, too. Wish I were at The Peppermill...

Mitzi ~ Total goofball. Yep. That is me:)

Joylene ~ This is a treat for me, too!

Michelle ~ So glad that there was much to appreciate here today. Congrats again on the site!

JJ ~ As much fun as I had in Vegas, it is still good to be back home.

Diane ~ I think that with the energy behind it, the IWSG is sure to have a long-term impact.

Susan ~ You are welcome, Susan. MJ was something, no???

  20. Wow. Thanks for the Dove video. I showed it to my daughter right away, too. These are so cool. ;)

  21. LOLOLOL! I laughed right out loud and immediately played it for the Hubbs. He'd read my post & found that reference to "sizes" to be pretty funny (and way too true) so he got a big kick out of this as well. Thanks for the major chuckle this morning. I definitely needed it on this rainy, dreary Sunday morning! XOXOXO, M.

  22. Ilima ~ That is great. More young women should be aware of the lack of reality in professional pictures...

Mary ~ I thought of that clip as soon as I read your post. Glad the Hubs was able to get a laugh, too:)

  23. Ha That's so super cool!! Thanks so much for the dedication!!

(it was a long weekend here in Oz, so I was a bit slower than normal popping in)

  24. That was fun. And that Dove commercial is really amazing. Whoa.

Love that pic of you in Vegas. Looks like you're having fun!

  25. I love, love, love it!! I've read several articles about her but hadn't heard her speak. She's incredible. I actually shared this with my seventh grade team of teachers today, and we will be sharing this clip with the entire seventh grade later this week. Thanks so much for pointing it out to me! Hope you enjoyed Vegas!!

  26. Brilliant, as always. I must confess the thing that caught my heart the most of this post is your picture near the Vegas sign. That is a gorgeous smile!!! Dragon hugs!

  27. I'm a little late...ahem. Love Jimmy Buffett, and that song perfectly sums up my week! Also loved Joan of Arcadia. I think I watched every episode, so I loved this snippet. Thanks for all the time you spend putting these Thursday posts together.
