W IS FOR WANT

For each letter of the A to Z, I'm going to give you a KEYWORD. You post in the comments a song with that word in the title. I will give you one to start (along with a video). If you like, you can go to YouTube and embed your video in the comments, so that readers can also listen to your song. No repeats and only post one song so that everyone can participate. If you're just brimming with songs, come back in a few days and lay it on me! If you want to see who else is participating in the A to Z click here.

Yesterday's keyword, Valley, turned out to be harder than I anticipated. I never know exactly how it will play out because you guys always think of songs 1) I've never heard, or 2) I forget about until you post them. The wonderful thing about this entire A to Z experience is seeing how varied all of our musical taste is. Anyway, here are the songs you thought of with Valley in the title:

Michele: Harper Valley PTA by Jeannie C. Riley
Mary: Valley Girl by Frank Zappa (Holli echoes this choice!)
Rosey: Valley of Neptune by Jimi Hendrix
Ericka: Lady of the Valley by White Lion
Jeffrey: The Valley Road by Bruce Hornsby and the Range
Alex: Valley of the Kings by Blue Murder
Stephen T. McCarthy: Red River Valley by The Sons of the Pioneers
Andrea: The Valley of Malls by Fountains of Wayne
Arlee: (Theme From) Valley of the Dolls by Dionne Warwick
Debbie: Pleasant Valley Sunday by The Monkees
Mich: Lonesome Valley by O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Pinku-Sensei: In the Valley by Midnight Oil

If you can think of more songs from previous letters and WANT to post them now, feel free to go back and add them:)

It's a new day and a new letter!

What is the KEYWORD?

Notice how much easier you've got it today! You better LOVE THIS WORD TO DEATH, because it's X, Y, Z from here. So, buckle in. You can use variations. In this case, wants, wanted, wanting.

I present to you.... How Bad Do You Want It by Tim McGraw.

You can comment with a song insert the video by copy/pasting the link in the search bar. You can give me two songs for this word right from Go. Thanks for playing along!

Special thanks to Arlee Bird and the A to Z team who make this possible!

Everything you want is not everything you need.

      Priceless.

But then I thought maybe Walter Egan's 'I WANNIT' (with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham doing harmonies) would be dismissed on a technicality (the T replaced with an N). So, I figured I better come in with a Plan B...

    1. I liked both of these. Of course, the first one counted. I said I take variations. Perfectly acceptable. I liked the piano work on the second quite a bit.

  8. A lot of want songs to choose from which is seems apparent with all of the double offerings today. Good thing I got here earlier this morning since a lot of the ones that came to my mind first are already here.

I'll offer one that many others won't think of:

Bruce Cockburn with "Mama Just Wants To Barrelhouse All Night Long"--I think you'll enjoy the piano work:

    2. I listened to this one twice. Normally not my style of music, but I really liked it. What is barrelhousing anyway? I feel like I should know the answer by now...

    3. Well, I think "barrelhousing" is carousing with music, dance, and beer. Something like that. Now you've got me curious enough to look it up.

  12. Thought of one by one of my all time favorite groups--Daniel Amos with "If You Want To". I figured no one else is likely to name this one so I'm probably not stepping on any toes. It's a subtle reference to accepting Jesus, but it rocks.

  19. I think you guys made this word harder than it was. There are tons of songs with want, wants, wanted, wanting in the title. Here are just THREE that I really like.

I think this is my favorite Wham! song. It makes me think of my ex, so maybe that figures into the equation...
