R IS FOR RAIN

For each letter of the A to Z, I'm going to give you a KEYWORD. You post in the comments a song with that word in the title. I will give you one to start (along with a video). If you like, you can go to YouTube and embed your video in the comments, so that readers can also listen to your song. No repeats and only post one song so that everyone can participate. If you're just brimming with songs, come back in a few days and lay it on me! If you want to see who else is participating in the A to Z click here.

I think yesterday's word (Queen) was on the tough side. Even so, you guys did great with it. Here are the songs you thought of with Queen in the title:

Mike: Killer Queen by Queen
Mary (then Robyn, then Susan): Dancing Queen by Abba
Michele: Sign of the Gypsy Queen by April Wine
Ericka: Captain Crash and the Beauty Queen from Mars by Bon Jovi
Rosey: Caribbean Queen by Billy Ocean
Andrea: Queen of Hearts by Juice Newton
Stephen T. McCarthy: Queen of the Slipstream by Van Morrison
Jeffrey: Roller Derby Queen by Jim Croce
Pinku-Sensei: Queen of the Highway by The Doors
Holli: God Save The Queen by The Sex Pistols
Mich: Burger Queen by Placebo
Debbie the Doglady: Little Queen by Heart
Arlee: The Queen of Love by The Incredible String Band
JEN Garrett: Queens are Never Wrong by The Backyardigans
D.G. Hudson: Acid Queen by Tina Turner
LC: Queen of the Roller Derby by Leon Russell
CW: Katie Queen of Tennessee by The Apache Relay

If you can think of more songs from previous letters and WANT to post them now, feel free to go back and add them:)

It's a new day and a new letter!

What is the KEYWORD?
You can use variations. In this case, rains, rained, raining, raindrops, rainy. Or anything with a base of rain. See my song, which uses rainfall. I think this will be SUPER DUPER EASY, so I'll give you three songs right from Go. For the sake of loading, only post one of them from YouTube and list the others. But, have fun, go crazy, and come back tomorrow to add more. I think there'll still be plenty out there.

I present to you.... Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall by Simon and Garfunkel.

You can comment with a song or embed the video by copy/pasting the code in the search bar. Thanks for playing along!

    1. This I actually didn't know. For Ed Sheeran, this sounded edgy. I think every song I've heard from him has been on the mellow side. I liked this one (not that I don't like mellow songs... because I DO!).

    2. I think he recorded it specifically for an episode of Sons of Anarchy. The scene was especially haunting and the song was the perfect touch. I don't think it's ever been released as a single. I just know it from having watched SOA.

  13. Being in a later time zone I always come in late for this. I'm surprised that no one came up with the song that came into my head first--"Rain" by the Beatles:

  14. GIRL WONDER, I was absolutely sure that "R" was for Rain. And, wow, some really great songs listed above. I love "...A Rainy Night"! (Great call, Andrea!) And I love "singin' in the rain", too! (Good ol', Birgit! It was only right that she'd land THAT one.)

I debated back and forth between two Rain songs and finally decided to go with the wacky (weed) one. But I hope someone else posts my second choice later.

    1. Whoops! The other rain song I was thinking of had already been listed... TWICE! ('Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' - Brother Nappy loved that one when it was a big hit.)

'FIRE AND RAIN' reminds me of a certain girl in my life who "died" (in a manner of speaking). The only song by James Taylor that I love.

And my girlfriend's "Rain" song got mentioned by someone other than me. How sunny!

  19. I'm actually pretty surprised that no one's mentioned Adele's Set Fire to the Rain. Because... how do you even go about doing that?

No, that's not my entry. Not an Adele fan. You get my favorite Norwegian musician. Probably the only Norwegian musician I follow... but still my favorite. 10 points if you can pronounce his name.

  24. You picked an eerily (almost morbidly) appropriate word for today, considering who died today and one of his most famous songs--"Purple Rain" by Prince. I'm surprised no one else used it.
