It is Thursday and that means it
is HERE'S TO YOU day! All in all, the best day of the week here on YOUR
DAILY DOSE. Why? Because it's a celebration for YOU.
One quick note, before we get this thing rolling. I want to explain something to Briane P. over at Thinking The Lions on this post.. Briane, I still read your posts BUT cannot comment on them since you changed your commenting format. I absolutely refuse to deal with Google and their circles. For the sake of showing that I did read (and did have a comment) I tried and was met with the Google Loop de Loop. It is one of the most unfun rides on the Internet. I got off. Just wanted you to know why my comments disappeared...
If
you don't know what this HERE'S TO YOU stuff is about, let me explain.
This used to be a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays. When I
read your blogs or you say something in the comments that sparks my
imagination (or I hear something and I think of you), chances are good I
will click over to YouTube to find footage for you. In the old days you
wouldn't have to reach back in your memory bank farther than one week.
Now... all bets are off. It could be several weeks ago.
The best (or worst)
part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage
for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head
at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all
is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com
and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of
footage off of YouTube and connected it to you. And then I will tell
you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the
crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol.
Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you
enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.
Also,
this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take
the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad
footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I
dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you
haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something
that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your
personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble
watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side),
click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to
youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the
video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring
it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.
Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!
This one is for everyone:
This one is for Jay Noel:
This one is for Jennifer Chandler at The Cup and Page:
This one is for Stephen T. McCarthy at FERRET-FACED FASCIST FRIENDS:
This one is for C.W. Martin at Tilting at Windmills:
This one is for JJ The Disconnected Writer:
This one is for Susan Gourley/Kelley at Susan Says:
This one is for L.G. Smith at Bards and Prophets:
Badass women! Excellent.
ReplyDeleteGood scene choice from Silver Linings Playbook.
Badass women! Alias! Yes, she did some serious negotiating with bad guys using her ninja moves. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Susan's Run Out of Rain is great. I can't believe the woman runs in 90 degree heat and enjoys it. Gah.
GIRL WONDER ~
ReplyDeleteHeck, I don't blame her one iota!
I too would much rather stay home with the Rabbit.
...er, well, not the Rabbit, actually, but the Rabbit's wife.
I'd even be willing to "do like some other men and... get her some money, too" ...if I had the energy for it at daybreak (which I sincerely doubt I would).

POSTSCRIPT: By coincidence I was listening that Simon & Garfunkel song just last night. I better pop over to Brother Martin's blog and see if I missed something. I was there yesterday at one point but I'm not exactly sure how this song ties in. I know it does though, somehow.
Alex ~ This was a particularly good week for clip finding!
ReplyDeleteL.G. ~ She did indeed. I hope Susan likes her song:)
StMc ~ What does the Rabbit's wife look like??? Uh oh. I think I have another terrible idea of a clip for you! Yeah, it happens just like that...I ask the question and then think of the answer.
I really love Simon & Garfunkel. I had their Sounds of Silence album on vinyl and it got a lot of play on my record player. I particularly loved the Second Side and would sometimes play it on repeat. I remember my mother yelling, "Put on another record already." Ha!
Hah! Y'know, the zoo's on the list this year too- if we ever get concurrent days off when it's not a sauna outside. Tell Mr. McCarthy to watch out for Poophead....
ReplyDeleteI'm awed by Kellie and Derek's dance. It was beautiful and amazing. Who knew she had it in her? I didn't follow that season. I hope she won or took second.
ReplyDeleteAnd the clip for Stephen...I'm a little disappointed in Carrie and Miranda. I mean, I could understand Charlotte's preference: rabbits are much easier and can be more pleasing than men.
I'm no fan of Google+ either. I left a comment at Briane's site, but I guess I've learned how to crack the code. I used to have a heck of a time commenting on the Google+ system. Besides Google+ usually grinds my computer to a slow down or even a halt--but what doesn't these days?

Tossing It Out
Great scene from Silver Linings Playbook! I can't wait to read JJ's reaction to the book he threw out of the window! You found the perfect women to go with LG's post!
ReplyDeleteJulie
ReplyDeleteFor this Thursday I have to congratulate you on the choice of the ballet Kellie and Derek.
In this dance you can see the artistic expression to represent what you want to communicate to others ...very nice.
That dance was amazing! So much energy into it. I really liked it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite scene from Silver Linings Playbook :)
ReplyDeleteCW ~ While I was scrolling through all of your animal pics that song kept playing in my head. I always know what that means.... HERE'S TO YOU.
ReplyDeleteRobyn ~ That was a particularly good season of DTWS. Kellie did win it but she had close competition. There were several really good dancers. That dance was the one that clinched it for them. I remember being awed when I watched it (live) and I still feel that way.
Arlee ~ Seems like every time blogger "tweaks" this site it just gets more Unfriendly to the User. I am not sure that I could even begin a blog if I were just starting. I don't like so many of the features... like Google Circles being a part of the commenting feature. I have a very hard time finding people whose main page is that dang Google Circles business. I just don't like it.
Julie ~ I am curious for his reaction, too. And L.G. really liked her clip:)
Dino ~ Welcome back!!! I am so glad you enjoyed that dance.
Al ~ Yes, it is one of my all-time faves from DWTS.
OE ~ I love it, too! I just watched the movie again a few nights ago. It cracked me up.
Hi, Robin,
ReplyDeleteI'm in the wrong place to be viewing videos now, but I will hop over to Briane's blog. Have a great weekend.
Great picks, as always. I'm astounded by how much time you must spend on Youtube looking for these videos.
ReplyDeleteAnd holy cow! I love Kellie Pickler's singing and bubbly personality, but I had no idea she's such an amazing dancer. Just beautiful.
Happy weekend!
Jen ~ Glad you liked it!
ReplyDeleteJ.L. ~ I hope you have an easier time commenting than I....
Susan ~ When this whole thing goes well it isn't as bad as you might think. I finish reading a blog, get an idea, open up YouTube in another tab, look for the footage, and if I find it Save To Favorites. Done.
I'm a little lte to the party...but just the idea of a Sex And The City post with McCathy's name attached is enough to get me crackin' up!
ReplyDeleteA lot of good stuff and some bloggers I know little of. It's always fun to meet new people!
ReplyDeleteKelly and Derek did a great job with that dance!! I love to watch a nice dance session.
ReplyDeleteDiscConnected ~ Yes, but it was so Purrfect!
ReplyDeleteJasmine ~ A lovely side bargain of HERE'S TO YOU...
rosey ~ That was a good one!
Thanks, so much, Robin. I love that song. I so appreciate all the work 'Thursday' is for you.
ReplyDeleteI sympathize on the commenting issue with Google+. I recently found a new blog I really liked but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to comment without giving away all my connections to some entity.
No grace under pressure with that guy. He should have jumped out the window and saved the book. You sure can pick them!
