Before we launch HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY, I want to take a quick minute and remind you to vote in Battle of the Bands. You can CLICK HERE to go to that post - once you are done here, of course. I also want to remind you of all the blogs hosting their own battles today:
Okay, everyone, we are off to the races!
It is Thursday and that means it
is HERE'S TO YOU day! All in all, the best day of the week here on YOUR
DAILY DOSE. Why? Because it's a celebration for YOU.
If you don't know what this HERE'S TO YOU stuff is about, let me explain. This
is a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays. The best (or worst)
part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage
for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head
at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all
is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com
and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of
footage off of youtube and connected it to you. And then I will tell
you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the
crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol.
Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you
enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.
Also,
this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take
the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad
footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I
dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you
haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something
that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your
personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble
watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side),
click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to
youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the
video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring
it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.
Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!
This one is for everyone:
This one is for Jasmine at A Yellow Rose of Texas:
This one is for Arlee Bird at Tossing It Out:
This one is for Julie at Empty Nest Insider:
This one is for Misha Gericke at The Five Year Project:
This one is for Brandon and Bryan at A Beer For The Shower:
This one is for Roland D. Yeomans at Writing In The Crosshairs:
This one is for LC at DiscConnected:
Tim McGraw is perfect for The Beer Boys this week. Great pick, Robin! haha
ReplyDeleteGood picks, for Roland and BFTS guys and for MIsha, too! Such a musically creative turn of mind you have, Robin. I liked Paul's first wife, Linda, he'll never find another like her.
ReplyDeleteThat Gary Busey commercial almost scares me.
ReplyDeleteRoland will definitely like the clip from The Blacklist!
Like D.G. said, I do not believe Paul will find another wife like Linda. And like Alex: that Gary Busey commercial unsettles me! And of course, thanks for the nod to Red. He thinks you have perfect taste! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love The Blacklist! Thanks for including the ad with my twin brother! I never thought I'd be saying this, but fortunately, we only look alike!
ReplyDeleteJulie
Some fun choices, Robin... I always enjoy your Thurs. picks!!!
ReplyDeleteSarah McLachlin has such a pretty voice! I like your choices!
ReplyDeleteI can say I don't speak to things...except to the dragon-mobile. But I do talk a lot to myself. The Busey commercial made me laugh. My iPad never understands what I'm saying, no matter if it's in English or Spanish.
ReplyDeleteGary Busey and that commercial were made for each other. And who else could have played Reddington? He would've been a totally different character without James Spader. Love him!
ReplyDeleteHa!-AHhh!
ReplyDeleteThe one for the BEER BBOYS was great. ("Mamas Don't Let Your Brandons Grow Up To Be Cowboys"... and put things in their mouths that they ought not.)
But the one that really made me truly Laugh Out Loud was the one for LC of 'DiscConnected'. HA! You went in a totally different way than you could have and it was spot-on funny (considering how sad the situation really is). I think that was one your best, Robin! One of your cleverest, wittiest.

So much fun in this post! "Here's To" ALL of these great bloggers!! Happy Thursday :)

Have you been spying on me, Robin?!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, I have found a whole lot of relief in cruising around town in the red convertible with my neighbor lately. Jo Dee Messina is my karaoke go to and I have always loved her style. I love that line about the rear view mirror torn off. That's where I need to be right now. Yup, sometimes you get burned and you move on. There should be lots of moving on going on here in a week or two. Stay tuned.
Thank you! These are all fantastic, and not just because we got mentioned. That Tori Amos song is a great pick for L.C. Also, the cowboy way of life may seem bizarre to us, but nothing will ever be as bizarre as Gary Busey.
ReplyDeleteI thought Colorado was a big cowboy state...
DeleteI always learn new things when I come here on Thursdays. Well done, as always.
ReplyDeleteHi human, Robin,
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, until I get my Alpo lapdog computer, I still have to use my human's computer. His computer is slower than a parked car. Which means, once again, I struggle to load up the videos.
So all I can say is I know that your videos, from when I can get them to load, are very intuitive by your kind human self.
Pawsitive wishes and happy Thursday,
Penny :)
On so many levels, I am in the wrong band-so it's hard know which facet of my life you're referring to!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice-did my mentioning Tori in the blog comment make you think of this or did you already have it in mind?
I picked up her new album (released Tuesday)-will play it after "Under The Pink" finishes spinning...couldn't just play one song....had to hear the whole disc!
Although the Gary Busey clip might be better suited for me (as I am constantly yelling at inanimate objects)...
Larry
Haha, I just read Julie's comment. She's hilarious. He is creepy-hysterical. I really liked (as in, it's getting hot in here) the tribute to Bryan and Brandon. I didn't know cowboys could be so sexy.
ReplyDeleteGreat picks, Robin. You found some lesser known, random songs that fit perfectly with the bloggers.
xoRobyn
I love that JoDee Messina song. We've all felt that 'hurrah, you're gone' moment at one time or another. ;)
ReplyDeleteElsie ~ I actually had several options for Brandon and Bryan... Who knew there were so many country songs about cowboys?!? ;)
ReplyDeleteD.G. ~ When I watch anything from Wings all I can think is that I am so glad Paul and Linda got to spend that time together. What a joy doing the thing you love with the one you love.
Alex ~ Good thing the only thing Julie and Gary have in common is hair!
Roland ~ So glad you liked yours. Red delivers the best lines:)
Julie ~ I know just what you mean!
Michael and Sherry ~ :)
Al ~ I hate talking devices. Once upon a time my mom had Onstar in her car. It always took her several tries to get it to call the right person. Sometimes it became funny after the fourth or fifth time of her saying one name and it coming back with someone else.
Carol ~ I think of all the roles that James Spader has had over his lifetime. I think Red might be the best.
StMc ~ When I left a comment on the original post over at ABFTS I actually mentioned the song Mama Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys (like a dope) so that knocked it out of the running here. You would be surprised at the number of options that there were despite that... And the Tori Amos song... well, I will respond more to that in my comment for LC, but I am very glad that YOU enjoyed it, too!
Jennifer ~ Who doesn't love Thursday?
Jasmine ~ I don't need to spy on you. We are psychically linked. Ha!
ABFTS ~ <<<---Also, the cowboy way of life may seem bizarre to us, but nothing will ever be as bizarre as Gary Busey.
Three responses for this. One is not to say that "nothing will ever" or even the word "never" because there is always something, in this case, more bizarre. Two is given how strange he comes across, I am surprised that he shot this commercial. Three, I guess that is the cowboy in HIM.
Liza ~ Yep, that is me. Just teaching everyone new tricks.
Penny ~ I almost included a dog clip on here this week. Maybe next week...
LC ~ Your clip started with me just thinking, "LC doesn't think I've heard Tori Amos. I will show him by dedicating him one of her songs on Thursday." Yeah, this was a response to your sweet comment (and I am not being sarcastic) about Tori Amos. I thought it was cool that she could sing in a crowd like that and not need a mic. Big voice. Little person. At first I thought I should pick something from Little Earthquakes since that was your recommendation, but then I thought of THIS song and it was too perfect. The Wrong Band for someone who has the music collection you do and takes the political stand you do. I don't even know all the other ways you might feel like you are in "the wrong band" but it's still "perfectly clear."
Robyn ~ Oh, Robyn, you need to look up Tim McGraw on YouTube and have yourself a time. Since he is now our age, go for the older ones!
rosey ~ I have experienced that moment several times. I would like to experience the "Oh wow, I found a good one" moment.
What a labor of love to pick clips for people. I have to steer clear of you tube videos...they are so addictive! I could spend whole days there watching them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the entertainment. Love the selections as always.
ReplyDeleteInteresting you put up "The Blacklist" - I've been watching that show even though I'm on the fence about it. I love the David Spader character (both portrayal and storyline), but the girl bugs me. She's so weak, oblivious, and over-emotional. Yuck. (I guess that answers my blog question about "bad" vs "good" characters! Even I like the bad ones better!)
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late to the party and I appreciate the reminder. It's been one of those weeks and as usual the computer has fast and slow times. It took a while this morning but I was finally able to access the video. Beautiful song, deep lyrics.
ReplyDeleteI can think of several levels how this song choice could apply to me right now--it's been hot as hell out here in L.A. and there are all sorts of fires burning. But emotionally the song is more applicable and I'm not sure if that's what you're referring to. Something I said in one of my comments?
Anyway thanks-- it was nice of you to think of me.

That Raymond Reddinton song has a beat that's almost as compelling as "7 Nation Army." Now I'm going to be doing everything to that rhythm all day. But it's a cool song. I'm putting together a road trip playlist and that might make it.
ReplyDeleteAwe thanks for thinking of me. :-)
ReplyDeleteElizabeth ~ I have said several times that I think YouTube is laced with visual crack cocaine. It's the only explanation I have for the amount of time I *waste* there... ha!
ReplyDeleteSusan ~ :)
Lexa ~ Have you considered making your MC more of a bad girl? People are very rarely all good or all bad? Part of that journey of self-discovery is simply finding the balance.
Lee ~ I wrote this after reading your 5/12 post on Tossing It Out. I bet it gets clearer now:)
Briane P. ~ I find it fascinating what is going to appeal to you. I never dreamed it would be the song The Blacklist clip. Hmm.
Misha ~ My pleasure.
Oh, that trailer! The part where a tear slips down Augustus's cheek. Just. Kills. Me. I only read the book this past week and lets just say, there was some really ugly 1 a.m. crying going on! =)
ReplyDeleteWow! I love the here's to you for everyone. What a wonderful trailer.
