BOTB Results, More IWSG, And What's Speaking To Me

Did you know that the official day to "roast" Arlee Bird is tomorrow? If you didn't and want to go in on this action, go here and join the Linky List.

Drumroll, please.  The BOTB results are in.  The battle was over the song Do You Hear What I Hear? by Bing Crosby and Celtic Woman. The race was very close. I even had 5 voters claim that it was a close call and/or really tough decision.  In my opinion, that makes for the best battles. In the end, you guys voted Bing Crosby as the winner with 11 votes and Celtic Woman took 7 votes. When you throw my vote in with Celtic Woman it makes 8, but Bing is still the clear winner.

I am going to be scarce this week. My brother and sister-in-law are driving down from Ohio, so my computer time will be severely limited while they are here. Gotta enjoy family when you can.

Thank you everyone who offered advice on my IWSG post. I will try to make it back to everyone who offered to email me something that would help and say YES PLEASE. If you read this first, please find my email address in my sidebar and go on and send it.  You guys are the best!

I know that the holidays are a time when people tend to hit a place of Overwhelmed. It happens to me all year long, but it's the end of the year and Christmas and celebrating and just this need to get it all done. I have been listening to my playlist while writing... that was something I learned during IWSG a few months ago.  (As an aside, I really like it when I thought I wouldn't.)  Anyway, this song struck me particularly hard.  Maybe it will speak to you, too...

Are you roasting Arlee Bird tomorrow? What do you think of the results for BOTB? Are you going to have company over the holidays? Are you feeling overwhelmed????

  2. Wow, beautiful song! I'm not a Leann Rhymes fan but this song is amazing. The words spoke to my heart. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Thanks for sharing the results and the winners. I am unofficially toasting Arlee in a post tomorrow. I say unofficial because I just heard about it and I'm not linked on the linky list and still working on a post to honor him. I like the song you've chosen. Enjoy your family visit.

  4. Yeah, that song spoke to me right now, too.

Through no fault or decisions of my own, the last two and a half years have been brutal to me and there is no real sign of Light on the horizon (even an oncoming train would be pretty welcome right about now). I thought I had finally caught the break I needed but it just turned out to be more darkness.

People have done wrong by me, made decisions that negatively impacted my life; I've felt like a dead leaf blowing in the wind - no control whatsoever. And the stress of the last 2.5 years has resulted in a bad case of TMJ and my hair is falling out now at an alarming rate.

Not sure how this will ever get corrected. I keep watching and hoping for... that Train.

    1. Stress is a killer. You are already experiencing it firsthand. It was chronic stress that led to chronic migraines (for me). The one thing I tell anyone who is experiencing chronic stress is to CHANGE it. Whatever you have to do to get out of that situation is WORTH it. Don't wait for the train.. be the train. And ride out of it.

That is my wish for you this Christmas.

  5. I just got back from visiting my inlaws - very little computer time as well. I hope you enjoyed your visitors from Ohio! (I used to live in Ohio - in Canton and outside of Cincinnati) Have a wonderful holiday season Robin!

  6. Glad to see Bing win this BOTB even though I didn't vote for him at my own. (Just my personal preference.)

The Holidays are stressful under the best of circumstances. Take some deep breaths, try to relax and do your best to enjoy, especially the visiting family. I hope they have kids. Kids seem to make Christmastime even more special.

Playlists - I can't remember who gave me that advice, but it really helps me get back into the swing of things when trying to write. My characters each have their own song, that helps me 'feel' them better. Does that make any sense at all?

  7. Alex ~ Hahaha. Good for Gremlins.

Yvonne ~ So glad you liked the song.

Gossip Girl ~ Yay for roasting Arlee!

Kimberly ~ It seems like everyone knows someone who lives in Ohio...

FAE ~ No kids, but that is okay. It will still be a lovely visit. Yes, I can see the beauty of playlists at long last!

  8. Very nice song choice. I can see why you like it and how it speaks to you. You have great advice to share on the stress issues. Keep sharing it. That just may be one of the reasons you've gone through everything you have.
You are so right. Right now, it is tough to keep up with everything and the blogging is one thing that has hit the back burner!
    Enjoy your family time!

  9. What a pretty song, and she's got a nice voice. Hurrah for Bing! I saw White Christmas on TV last night...actually, I caught the last half an hour of it. My first time seeing it, but it looked good. :)
