Before I get down to the Thursday dedications, I want to take just a moment for some *other stuff.* Last week Gwen Gardner put some writers in the stocks on her blog. Readers voted in their best Old English for either a guilty or innocent verdict and there were prizes. I am as pleased as the early bird getting the worm to announce that I won the Big Prize of $25. Thank you Gwen!
Battle of the Bands took place here (among other places) on the 15th. I paired off an instrumental version versus an a cappella version of the Christmas song Carol of the Bells. The Piano Guys (featuring 12 cellos) won that hands down. I really thought it would be a closer call given that I had such a difficult time choosing a winner. However, you guys voted 11 for The Piano Guys and 4 for Pentatonix. I am throwing my trifling vote in with Pentatonix to bring it up to 5 votes, but it still loses solidly. Come back on the 1st for the next battle!
Now it is on to the HERE'S TO YOU past of this post. If you don't know what I am blabbering about, it is Thursday.
And that means another post dedicated to all of you and the excellent
blogging you have done this week. So, sit back and enjoy. It's HERE'S
TO YOU DAY!!!
This
is a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays. The best (or worst)
part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage
for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head
at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all
is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com
and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of
footage off of youtube and connected it to you. And then I will tell
you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the
crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol.
Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you
enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.
Also,
this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take
the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad
footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I
dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you
haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something
that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your
personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble
watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side),
click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to
youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the
video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring
it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.
Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!
This one is for everyone:
This one is for RocknRobyn at Life by Chocolate: Robyn Alana Engel's Blog:
This one is for Stephen T. McCarthy at FERRET-FACED FASCIST FRIENDS:
This one is for Manzanita at Wanna Buy A Duck:
This one is for Carol at Under The Tiki Hut:
This one is for Dianne K. Salerni at In High Spirits:
Watching her sleep - good cover!
ReplyDeleteThat first one is a hoot!! Had to share it. And I remember that Seinfeld episode well. so funny. I miss that show.
ReplyDeleteOoooh! I thought these videos were supposed to "ENTERTAIN" us, not make us even angrier than we already are.
ReplyDeleteWell, this is obviously a form of government "trial balloon", designed primarily just to see HOW MUCH they can get away with; to determine how much of their civil and Constitutional rights the average Americonned sheep is willing to relinquish to good ol' Uncle Sam, the tyrant, the bully, the criminal.
All I can say is "GOOD LUCK!" to the government agents who interfere with my life by directing me off the road and requesting that I undergo some kind of random testing. I will definitely get my 15 MINUTES OF FAME on the evening news across the country on that date. If they have an angel watching over them, I will not be the one they select to hassle.

Classic! I love it! I didn't remember how the bet started and didn't know where that Seinfeld bit was heading (I tried not to use the word "head", but I couldn't think of another synonym). Hahaha! I laughed out loud when Jerry told Kramer he'd lose the bet before the check came. Thank you, Robin.
ReplyDeleteI also love the first clip. He's awesome. And I've never heard Hats before. It's a catchy tune.
Be well. Thanks again for the hilarious dedication. Thank goodness I've never been caught, especially not by my mom.

Alex ~ Yes, that was good cover, but it deteriorated rapidly. The longer a person goes without sleep the more irritable they get!
ReplyDeletePK ~ I crack up each time I watch it... make the first clip and the Seinfeld one. Best.Episode.Ever. of that show.
Stephen ~ Alex Jones referenced this madness in that clip you showcased on your blog. It was easily forgettable given the broad range of topics that he hit on in the 15 minutes. But, I agree with you 100%. The government is counting on people to roll over and take it. And some will jump at the chance for the little bit of extra money. They don't recognize this for what it is: taking the temperature of the American people to see how much more of their liberty they are going to just hand over.
Robyn ~ Best.Episode.Ever. Right behind the line you mentioned is Jerry's repetition of the line "Glamour?" in disbelief. Hahahaha.
Congrats on the big win. I scooped up two free books in the contest. Thanks for the Thursday entertainment.
ReplyDeleteROBIN ~
ReplyDeleteYeah, I actually remember the Alex Jones reference (I've watched the video 3 or 4 times). And we are in full agreement about what this is. Isn't it amazing what is happening right here in the so-called "land of the free and home of the brave"?
Oh... and don't forget to thank a vet for going overseas to preserve our liberty here at home!

Loved the Seinfeld clip! Cute scene from Grey's Anatomy!

ReplyDeleteI loved that agile guy dancing around. A great energy clip.
Seinfeld: A fun one but they were all fun. George and his parents were such a hoot. The Good Wife: If a woman is destined to be a good wife, it's always easier if she has a "good husband" too. Looks like it has the makings of a good movie, huh?
Everyone thought Hilary was "the good wife." But she had her own agenda. Before he was president, Mrs. Harriman called Clinton to see her and told him he was chosen to be president. He said he couldn't do it because Hilary had just left him because of his womanizing. Mrs. Harriman told him to get her back. Hilary was most happy to return under those conditions. Later, I doubt if she gave any thought to what Clinton and Monica did. And now she'll probably get Her chance.
Thanks for the enjoyable videos.
Glad to see The Piano (Cello) Guys win your BATTLE. I really like most all of their stuff.
ReplyDeleteSome interesting videos you have posted here. With respect to the one for STMc - I have seen this type of thing pulled off in three different states over the past two decades (nothing new under the sun). Although, it was being 'tested' at the time in small out of the way places. No chance of making the 'evening news'.
If you think this is unfortunate/intimidating/scary don't travel out of this country. While constitutionality isn't an issue in some of these places; the intimidation factor of voluntary (at least that's what they tell US citizens) cooperation is a whole different story when the officer doing the questioning is holding an assault rifle out front, has bandolier of ammunition across his chest, while dressed in military fatigues. I'm afraid this is a scenario that may be coming to your neighborhood all too soon.
Susan ~ Contests are fun, aren't they????
ReplyDeleteStephen ~ I do appreciate the vets for their service. I think that when people sign up for the military they believe that they are in it to protect this country. They go where they are told and follow orders. They are willing to sacrifice themselves, it it comes down to that. That is incredibly noble. The only thing that would make it more so were if the people calling the shots had noble intentions.
Manzi ~ The Good Wife is a TV show on CBS that is currently in its 5th season. It plays on Sunday nights on CBS after The Amazing Race. Of course, the focus of that show is no longer "standing by your man even though he cheated." Life does go on after all. It's a very good show and kinda/sorta touches on what you were talking about in your post. What is the Right Thing????
farawayeyes ~ From what I gleaned in that clip, although they said these things were voluntary, it didn't FEEL voluntary. I am sure that would be magnified a thousand fold if were being done by military service men who were carrying assault weapons. As for it coming to a neighborhood near you... if they can successfully pull this off as is (federal contractors who are unarmed), then chances are it will be everywhere. And Americans are so ready to give up their liberty, they won't need soldiers to take this over. Just keep on keeping on. When you are ready to give up your liberty, you can count on someone just waiting to take it.
The traffic stop video is pretty freaky. Makes one wonder how many other weird things are going on. Our tax dollars at work.

A Faraway View
Seinfeld has always been one of my favorite shows. I can't pick one favorite line because there are so many.
ReplyDeleteLOL the kid in the first video was a hoot. How fun that the camera man followed him. :)
ReplyDeleteArlee ~ I honestly have no idea...
ReplyDeletecube ~ If I had to pick from the Entire Series... no way could I come up with a favorite. Working within just those three minutes of that clip, it was much easier:)
mail4rosey ~ You are right!
Congrats on winning the contest!... YAY, you!
ReplyDeleteLots of fun clips, but I got the biggest kick out of the first one. Must be nice to be that uninhibited... and coordinated. If I drink a glass of wine, my inhibitions may go down, but unfortunately, I'd only THINK my coordination got better.
Federal agents giving people some of their own tax money back in exchange for their blood and DNA is absolutely criminal.
ReplyDeleteAnd who knew that snoring could be cute? I never watched that show, but she's cute.
Loved that first one; that was great! Put a big smile on my face fist thing this morning :)
ReplyDeleteHi human, Robyn,
ReplyDeleteI shall apologise on behalf of my human. He has been away and begged me to leave a comment on your site. And four days later, I'm here.
I reckon my human is living on a prayer. Hey prays that he can find a clone to help him out. I can only do so much to help him keep up.
And snoring reminds me of what happens when I start reading one of my human's blogs. They put me to sleep.
Once again, very good of you to think of all those bloggers. Take care and with that, I shall go now.
Pawsitive wishes,
Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar!
Sorry, that tired, I spelt your name wrong. Sorry, Robin! :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Robin! It took me a minute, but I got it! Wearing many hats ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteThis week has been particularly stressful, but after some soul-searching and long conversations with my husband, I think I have placed my hats in the correct priority.
There may even be a change in my hat-wearing on the horizon, but that's not something I can talk about publicly right now. Let's just say, I feel lightened considerably by the decision!
Susan ~ hahaha. I have that some problem when it comes to drinking and pool playing. I think I get better, but not so much...
ReplyDeleteSteve ~ Yes it is. The world has gone mad.
mshatch ~ I love it too.
Gary ~ Yes, I saw from your most recent post that you were out and about. Good thing you have Penny to visit while you're gone.
Dianne ~ So glad that you came up with the solution for all of those HATS. Change can be a very good thing. It always seems scary, but how else do we grow???
Love those snoring scenes! Thank you for thinking of me :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
