Battle of the Brand Results ~ Brand New Book

I have to fess up. I've not been on Blogger for several days. I've mostly been migraining. Yeah, that's officially a "thing" now. Mostly because I just said it was. I did feel marginally better today, and it was a good thing, because I spent most of it at church.

Anyway, even though I hadn't been here, I did count up the votes on Battle of the Bands a few days ago. Much to my surprise, it was a tie.

11 votes to The Underdogs. 11 votes to UB40.

Holy smokes. Then I started praying someone/anyone would come back and vote so I didn't have to be the You Know What. The irony is that I've thought RIGHT UP UNTIL THIS BATTLE that I really wanted a close one. Turns out, I didn't want a tie-breaking one. In a tie-breaking event, I have to break the tie. I know many of you thought as you cast your vote that my vote was obviously and clearly for UB40. The thing is I really like The Underdogs, too.

Apparently you guys are equally divided on this issue. So, even though my vote has no more power than anyone else's vote, it sure 'nuff feels like it does. I listened to both songs again. Just to be sure. And you guys know me so well. I do like the UB40 version just a hair better than the other one. But only a hair, so don't go thinking you know me TOO well, 'cuz you don't. Obviously.

So, that means UB40 won the battle. And I kinda sorta feel like I won, too. Yippee. A tie. I finally picked two versions of the same song that resulted in a tie. ::clicking heels::

In case you thought I'd given up on my Train Education (of you) due to lack of interest... rethink it. I'm only halfway there. I'm not really sure where Brand New Book falls. It wasn't on an album. It was a single that is used as the theme song for the TV Show, The Biggest Loser. I don't watch the show, but I love the song. Since it fits the sentiments I expressed above, it's getting played NOW. I present to you Brand New Book. Here I am, you still me know. Just the same old story in a brand new book.

Underneath these lifelong
Things that were right till they went wrong
When misunderstood stood in my way.
Now down in the heart of a matter-of-fact
There's a place I remember and I wanna go back
Where I stop getting even and started to change.

All I want is you to see me
Here I am
You still know me
Here I am
Take another look
Here I am
Same old story in a brand new book

If second chances were dances
You know I would have two left feet
But at least I'd have a front row seat to love
And so I've been turning it upside down
Shaking it up and shaking it out
And now I'm running for you
Instead of running from me

All I want is you to see me
Here I am
New as morning
Here I am
Just like the sun
Here I am
Without warning
I'm the one for you
Here I am
You still know me
Here I am
Take another look
Here I am
Same old story in a brand new book

And now I get set of second chances to turn
The pages of the lessons of the love that I've learned
Was true, now all that's missing is you

All I want is you to see me
Here I am
New as morning
Here I am
Just like the sun
Here I am
Without warning
I'm the one for you
Here I am
You still know me
Here I am
Take another look
Here I am
Same old story in a brand new book
Here I am
Here I am
The same old story in a brand new book

  1. I hate ties. I mean the ones you have to wear or at least some people think you have to wear on certain occasions. They're so confining.

Now voting ties are a different story. It's kind of a sign that you chose song version selections well and they are essentially both kind of like winners. I understand the difficulty of the choice but it's fair enough.

Theme song from "The Biggest Loser". I've been hearing some good songs being used on TV shows. Maybe that's going to be the future of music artists.

  2. And here I thought this was going to be an announcement for a brand new book you're working on. But I guess a bit of Trainducation is okay too. I need proper Training. As long as I don't get Trainwashed.

(Cue everyone rolling their eyes so hard their retinas detach)

I like when battles are really close. The alternative is a blowout, which really just means "Wow, everyone REALLY hated that other song."

  4. That's quite a hair. UB40... I didn't even know they were still alive, I do know they messed up a wonderful song a long long time ago. So this battle is for you and only you:

Version 1 (Say it ain't so...)
Version 2 (Especially the final words....)

    Be gentle. ;)

  6. You need a new thing.
So far I've only had one tie.

  7. I'm a Train fan so you don't have to educate me though I wasn't familiar with that song. I don't watch that show either. Never can understand what motivates people to share their personal pain with strangers on TV like that.

  8. You did get a close call and you had to break the tie! I am glad UB40 won:) I hope your migraine will soon improve. Pain is horrible no matter which way. My poor friend had to endure the latest botox and now her one eyebrow is higher than the other but she is better with the migraines for now.

  9. You needed the dragon vote then. Too bad I missed it. But what you need more is to take things easy. I am sending you good healing vibes and my prayers for you to feel better soon, my dear friend. Hearing you are suffering from migraines again makes me sad...and the dwarves too. We all send you hugs. Lots of them.

  11. I'm really surprised that this was a tie, but then that's just me. I admit I can't remember if I've had a tie on my BOTB, but I would kind of like that, because then my vote would really mean something.

  12. Ooh, a close one indeed! I guess the fact that you were torn reflects how torn the voting group as a whole was as well :)

  15. I can accept a tie, as long as it is not around my neck. I would not accept the Nobel Prize for literature if I had to wear one. They are both great songs, very well chosen. Good job! Be well.

  16. I like it when my own vote determines my BOTB winner. Aww, the POWER! I love the smell of POWER in the morning.

I've gotten to break the tie on my own BOTBs 2 or 3 times and I've always dug being The Decider of the Battle.

Good BOTB you put together, GIRL WONDER.

Yeah, I'm back from outta state, but only for 3 more weeks. Then I'll be outta state poimanently.

  17. Hope those migraines go away! I've been migraining for about a month, too. No fun!

  18. Well, heck, if I'd gotten here sooner I might have broken the tie for you. But ties are always more interesting than blow outs.

    Hope you're feeling better.

  19. So sorry to hear your migraines are still giving you a fit. I hope they pass soon. Hugs.

  20. Well, son of a... Blogger's been messing with me again, sending my comments into never never land. I was here before. Commented that ties are more fun than blow outs. (Well, now that I think of it...if it's my Red Sox and they're winning, I don't mind a blowout at all.) Now let's see where this comment goes.
