HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY

SURPRISE. Drum roll please. It is once again HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY.  I read your comments regarding whether I should continue to embed or provide links.  Most of you were in favor of embedding (as it is now), so I will leave things as they are.  However, I do want to know if you have trouble with the post loading.  This is going to be a good test for your computers.  So many great posts came out this week, so I have more footage than usual.  One of you will even get tagged twice, which is a first for this post.  I am also including Joan of Arcadia clips for two different people.  Another first.  Joan of Arcadia just might be my all-time favorite TV show.  So many great life lessons in that show.  I know that the clips tend to be longer than just a couple minutes, but they are always worth watching.  In this case, the story was so good I am including two clips per person.  I will link to the second clip so that the page loads faster:)  Aside from that bit of business, this is a typical Thursday.  If you don't know what that means, let me explain...

This is a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays.  The best (or worst) part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of footage off of youtube and connected it to you. And then I will tell you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol. Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.

Also, this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side), click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.

Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!

  1. I am almost crying, Robin, in reaction to the 19 Something song. Thanks so much for both dedications. You're so special to be doing these posts, and I feel doubly honored. That music video brought back so many more good memories than I'd thought of when I wrote my poem (wax lips, toe socks, etc.) And I was in stitches over the clown video. Hysterical! I never understood why everyone hates clowns so much, but I'm starting to get it.

Have a great Thursday and (almost) weekend.
    Thanks again,
    xoRobyn

I guess the videos fit.... I don't know anything much but I do know for absolute certain that Jim Croce is numero uno and that is one of the best swing dance songs ever written. Toes have to tap with music like that. If you sit still, hell-lo, you're dead. W

What a lot of work you put into Thursday. Applause to Robin.

  5. Robyn ~ I am so glad that the song brought back so many more great memories. It does that to me, too, whenever I hear it:) Yeah, I really like Gary's video, too!

farawayeyes ~ It is something to think about, no? Other people are much easier on us than we are. It's time we all went a bit easier on ourselves:)

Alex ~ Robyn liked hers. I hope Tara feels the same!

Manzanita ~ Way back when I was in elementary school I was very involved in dance and gymnastics. You Don't Mess Around With Jim was the song set to one of my favorite tap dance numbers. I have loved that song for a LONG time!

  6. Hey Robin,

I'm fashionably late. Yes, I have a terrible time getting your site to load up. My poor computer. My son's computer needs a password to get into it. He's gone to Crete for two weeks. You'd think he'd let his dad use his super fast computer that showed your site loading up no problem at all. Nope, no chance. Anyway, after going to the store and a five mile run, I now see your blog has loaded up.

I appreciate you amazing perception when you stick up these videos. Right now, I'm actually managing to listen to that 1970 or 1980 something. It seems Robyn can relate to that. Fantastic tributes. Although, with my computer acting weird, I didn't watch them all.

LOL and WTF and I C U. U C I C U 2....Thanks for that video for me and yep, you would be correct.

    Gary :)

  7. I love the Dove real beauty sketches. Dove commercials are my favorite.

  8. Gary ~ That is terrible that your computer is so slow and your son left you locked out of his! Glad you were able to watch some, if not all, of the offerings for this week. As soon as you put up your last post, the video for you came to me. I love it when it works that way!

Rebecca ~ I know. They are very insightful... make you look at yourself a bit differently:)

  11. I've been watching Bones forever. I don't like clowns either. Great songs Robin. Enjoy whats left of summer!

  12. Your site still loads slow on my computer and so do the videos. Weird because there are other sites with embedded videos that I don't have a problem with and I can usually play YouTube videos okay. I need a bigger faster computer I guess. I wish.

I like clowns. The concept at least. Real life clowns can be pretty creepy though.

  13. Mitzi ~ Yeah, I thought you would appreciate the clips from Joan of Arcadia. Isn't it always strange to see others voice our thoughts???

mail4rosey ~ Yeah, it got me too!

Cathrina ~ Booth and Clowns. Love that. I live in the south. Summer tends to go on FOREVER.

Arlee ~ Sorry you're still struggling with the page loading. Seems like we always want a newer, faster computer, no??? Clowns in theory are great. In reality, you're right they can be creepy.

  18. I feel like such a heel when I don't notice there's a Thursday pick for me. And this time there's two! I have good reasons for not being around much this week, but really- like JJ says: no more excuses!
I really like the way this whole thing wrapped up in the end and it made me really think. You never do know how you'll end up effecting others, even in some small way.
Most people do just want to know that someone knows and cares that they exist. Great job again, this week with the posts for everyone. You really do put so much into this!
Can I mention that I see a whole lot of clarity in your stuff lately and I can't help but be thankful that you found a better way to deal with those darn migraines?! I see a fabulously strong Robin shining through!

  19. I haven't heard Jim Croce in a long, long time. Now you've got me wondering if I have that on CD or not.
