SURPRISE. Drum roll please. It is once again HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY.
Yes, you read that correctly. HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY is back on
Thursday. For those of you unfamiliar with the once again weekly
HERE'S TO YOU THURSDAY posts, I bet you're wondering what is going
on. Well, peeps, let me give you the skinny on this event...
This
is a weekly event landing typically on Thursdays. The best (or worst)
part is that I am not going to explain why I chose "whatever" footage
for each of you. If, you watch your footage and are scratching your head
at the end, well that means I didn't do a very good job. However, all
is not lost. You can email me at rarichards68@gmail.com
and ask me what I was thinking when I chose that particular piece of
footage off of youtube and connected it to you. And then I will tell
you. Then I will start sending up prayers that I haven't offended the
crap out of whoever is on the receiving end of that email....lol.
Because, honestly, I will tell you right now... I admire all of you
enormously so I really hope that doesn't happen.
Also,
this is not an exclusive venture by any means. I hope that you will take
the time to watch ALL of the footage because I don't pick bad
footage:-) I also hope that you might check out the blog of the person I
dedicated the footage to because they are pretty darn awesome. If you
haven't figured this out yet... I pick the footage based on something
that you've written or something that I've gleaned from your
personality. Think on that for a while... If you are having trouble
watching the entire video (meaning it is being cut off on one side),
click on it a couple of times and it will take you straight over to
youtube. If you click on the four squares at the bottom corner of the
video, it will enlarge it to fill your screen. The escape key will bring
it back to normal size. The back arrow will bring you back to my page.
Now, let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!

Abbott and Costello’s routine never grows old. Who is responsible for Benghazi? What is the reason for collecting e-mails written by American citizens? I Don’t Know if we target journalists with whom we disagree. Why can’t we learn the names of our leaders who issue orders to those they supervise? Because of a cover up? We won’t find out Today. Perhaps we will learn the truth Tomorrow, but when it comes to trusting my government officials, I Don’t Give A Darn. It is one big joke!
ReplyDeleteGreat picks for Robyn and Gary!
ReplyDeleteThe lion video was sweet. Surprised he remembered her so well.
Aw shucks, thanks. What? No "Born to Be Wild" for me, huh? (Actually the parody "Bald, Fat, and Mild" is more apt... um, no I'm not bald. I'm just sayin'...)
ReplyDeleteGood choices for all. I had forgotten just how good-look'n that Burt Reynolds was. Sally Fields was really young in that movie. Probably the one that gave her, her start, but I guess it was the flying nun.
ReplyDeleteOK, I confess-I still get a little choked up when I see that scene in The Bucket List.
ReplyDeleteI loved that film!
JJ ~ I love the Who's on First bit. Slays me every time.
ReplyDeleteAlex ~ I think animals never forget kindness and love.
Susan ~ No. This was a departure from your most recent blog... 70s style.
Manzanita ~ I know. Shocks me how good looking Burt Reynolds was every time I watch that movie. Sally Fields big break came in the role of Gidget. Remember that? I watched an interview with her that was very interesting. After Gidget, she was offered The Flying Nun and turned it down. Repeatedly. She hated the idea for the the show. However, she was pressured to take the role by her father. He really undermined her confidence and said things, "You will never get offered better." She knew in her heart that wasn't so, but allowed his fear to become hers. She regretted every day that she played that role. She had a hard time being taken seriously as an actress for a LONG TIME after that role, too. Another reminder to always listen to your gut. But, yes, she is also So Young in that movie. And so talented. I think this may have been her Big Movie Break.
Those are all great picks...especially the Abbott and Costello and Bobby Bare vids. Haven't heard much of Bobby these days...I wonder if he's still alive and kicking?
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
What a fun Ally McBeal clip. I didn't know Robert Downey, Jr. was her love interest on there. I watched for a little bit years ago and then never saw it again. He's pretty smokin' hawt, and Sting sounds great.
ReplyDeleteI have so much fun with these! Then I go explore blogs. This really is the neatest idea!
ReplyDeleteI watched them all even if they weren't for me. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAh, I think the Gary one is perfect!! And it is the first time I see that one complete. Thanks for that.
ReplyDeleteThat lion can teach some people about gratitude for sure. Amazing animal.
All those vids would exceed my net download limit, so I'll have to take your word that they're awesome. I was oddly listening to "You Shook Me All Night Long" and couldn't even find the link to that one on your page. Hmm... *cue Twilight Zone music*
ReplyDeleteIt's such a lovely idea to appreciate fellow bloggers! Have a wonderful weekend. :-)
So cool...all of them. I especially loved the lion :)
ReplyDeleteMark ~ I don't know if Bobby Bare is still alive. Good question.
ReplyDeletemail4rosey ~ RDJr wasn't an original cast member, but I think that he really revived the show and then he killed it when he left (due to his drug problem and having to go to rehab/jail). That was back in the 90s. Not good good years for RDJr. However, I think he pulled it out of the fire ultimately and saved his own life. So proud of him.
Liza ~ You go girl!
Susan ~ That is the point of this ole thing. Thanks for participating!
Al ~ Glad that you finally saw Who's On First all the way through. That lion video made me cry first time I saw it. I'm such a softie.
Lexa ~ That happens sometimes. Sorry:(
Carol ~ I agree about the lion!
Hey Robin... I came by and saw it from work.. meant to get back to comment. :op
ReplyDeleteOf course, I LOVE it!!! You are amazing in how you can pick videos for others' posts... I don't see how you do it.
This reminds me of a conversation I had with Boy Shoes not long ago. Something was bothering him... and he asked, 'do you remember when i asked you if you were going to die someday?'
.. and I told him, yes that I remembered. He said, 'You told me that you would always be here... but you won't be... will you?'
I told him that I will always be with him as long as he lived... in some form or fashion'...
Bless his heart...

Hey Robin,
ReplyDeleteI scampered over here as soon as I noted your comment on my site. At nearly three in the morning, I did look at a good portion of those videos. I'm very familiar with that baseball confusion routine with Abbott and Costello. I'm getting the impression that you think my mind might work like that :) That Bobby Bare song hurt my ears. The lion video was truly touching, quite literally.
Thanks for thinking of me and those other fine folks. I'm flattered you would include me again. Sorry it took until Sunday morning to get here. It's all my multitasking. Yes, you read correct.
Have a lovely Sunday and thanks again.
Gary :)
Shoes ~ The only way I know to explain it is that sometimes it is *magic.* I will read a post and know right away the right footage to go with it. Usually, I open up another tab (immediately) and look for it on YouTube and save it. Otherwise, I just might forget. The posts just speak to me. That is all I know to say about it.
ReplyDeleteklahanie ~ Your last post made me think of the Abbott and Costello routine. I thought you would appreciate the nod. Now I love that Bobby Bare song. My dad loved Bobby Bare, so I grew up on that music. And that particular song was one of my favorites as a kid. I had it on a 45 record. However, I do know it is not to the musical taste of everyone. You can't please everyone all the time! Totally agree about the lion video. Lovely Sunday to you, too:)
Robin, I am deeply touched and honored. I'm sorry I didn't catch this earlier. Thanks for pointing me over to your blog. That scene made my eyes well up. It means so much that you thought of me for it. To make those kinds of connections - wow - that IS what gives life meaning. I didn't even see the movie. Now, I want to rent it.
ReplyDeleteThanks again, dear Robin.
I hope you're having a great weekend.
xoRobyn
Thank you, Robin. I'm touched. Did I mention you are a beautiful mermaid?
